James2 Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 (edited) This will be an ongoing long term project. Starting with a Revell Special Edition 62 Impala. I started my quest for the proper parts last year when I found this picture on-line. The first thing I did was open the trunk and doors. I tried a couple of different front axle configurations, but I like the single leaf spring here. It's just different enough. The tires and rear wheels are parts box specials and the front wheels are from the Tweety Pie kit. I have a PE set and will be digging deep into the parts box for this one. I hope you enjoy it... Fortheloveofgassers Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 Nice job on opening the doors and trunk. Look forward to seeing the progress.
W-409 Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 I'll be watching this one very closely. X-Frame Chevrolets are always nice to see, and I like Gassers, too. Can't wait to see more progress, the stance looks excellent to me and I really like the 1:1 car, too.
ChevyCoupe41 Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 I will watching this project fo sure. It's always nice to see '62 Chevy on progress. Stance is excellent and those opened doors and trunk looks very nice.
James2 Posted February 24, 2013 Author Posted February 24, 2013 Thank you for the interest and comments on this project. It may be slow going, I plan on taking me time on this one.
James2 Posted March 12, 2013 Author Posted March 12, 2013 This is kinda new territory for me. I will attempt to make the inner door panels as close to real as possible. Here is the beginnings of that, very tedious but will continue forward. Also I broke the area where the A pillar meets the fender. I have re-glued it but I think taping the windshield in place should prevent this from happening again.
Mooneyzs Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 (edited) I have no clue how I missed this build. But I am really digging where this one is going and you are off to a Killer start!!! I will be following along with this build. Nice work James!! Edited March 12, 2013 by Mooneyzs
James2 Posted March 31, 2013 Author Posted March 31, 2013 Worked on the 62 a little this weekend. Filling the door panel and openings in. Got the rear suspension together and just about have the front axle figured out, the shocks could be a challenge. Mocked up the 409 with a Garlit's dragster blower, modified manifold and the kit carbs. Thank you for watching along....
James2 Posted April 2, 2013 Author Posted April 2, 2013 Thanks for the interest and comments. I'll still keep this on the Back Burner for now, but I am enjoying the build.
Mooneyzs Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 James... this is looking very nice and you are making some great progress. No need to rush this one at all. Keep up the great work.
James2 Posted April 2, 2013 Author Posted April 2, 2013 Thanks Chris, I will not rush this one at all.
wilderness1989 Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Great start!!!!! Please keep us updated on your progress?
James2 Posted June 17, 2013 Author Posted June 17, 2013 Thanks John. We are in the middle of relocating, so the hobby is packed up except for a few things to keep my plastic fix in check. I'm re-building a ford truck I did 15 years ago. It's posted in the proper section....
