afx Posted January 9, 2014 Author Posted January 9, 2014 Cool! I've had that kit since I was 14 and still have it unbuilt and intact. Funny story, I lived in Germany and as an American the Revell kits were quite expensive in the local hobby shops, The equivalent of $10 US while kits were maybe $2.50 at home. I get back to the states, and what is the first kit I buy? The 914 kit that was available in Germany... only I couldn't resist it at a quarter of what I had lusted after it at in Germany. And of course I haven't built it yet. believe I'm missing the windshield surround. I hope to built it fairly stock someday! The early Revell kits have always been daunting to build, but especially for a kid. I preferred to build Monogram kits as a kid, Tom Daniel's kits in particular. They went together well and being molded in color meant no body painting(!). I just purchased another kit and plan to build it as a production 914/6. Maybe I can inspire you to build yours.
Ace-Garageguy Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 (edited) Great looking flares! All your mods are a huge improvement over what Revell put out. Fine work. Edited January 9, 2014 by Ace-Garageguy

afx Posted January 14, 2014 Author Posted January 14, 2014 (edited) Here are the final mock-up photos. I have meet with a resin caster and he likes what he sees. So you too may have a chance to build a 914-6 GT. Stay tuned. Edited August 28, 2015 by afx
simonr Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Exellent project from the very beginning...when you plan to sell the copies?...As I think, it 'll be a full engine kit? Simón P. Rivera Torres
cartpix Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 I have (at least) one more cobra in the pipeline. Not to detract from the Porsche, but where did you get the top, on the Cobra, in the background?

Rivera Torres Thanks Simone. The plan is for it to be a trans-kit with the engine and various other parts coming for Fujimi's '73 Porsche 911 RS Rally kit. If/when it becomes available I will let you know.
afx Posted January 15, 2014 Author Posted January 15, 2014 That looks great! Excellent job Thanks Oscar.
Zoom Zoom Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Excellent! Glad to hear it might be available in resin.
afx Posted January 16, 2014 Author Posted January 16, 2014 Thanks Bob. Checked out your Fotki album-very nice builds.
Zarana-X Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Great work. You're making the rest of us look bad!
simonr Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Great news, let me know when it's available. Being myself a big Porsche models fan, I'm seriously interesed on this one. Simón P. Rivera Torres Thanks Simone. The plan is for it to be a trans-kit with the engine and various other parts coming for Fujimi's '73 Porsche 911 RS Rally kit. 250 Testa Rossa Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Is that other Cobra you doing CSX 2128? If so, which livery are you doing?
afx Posted January 18, 2014 Author Posted January 18, 2014 (edited) Max, Yes CSX2128. I'm currently thinking Sebring '63. However the decals and stripes are a problem. I started a tread on the Cobra so it doesn't take over this thread. Here is the link. Edited August 28, 2015 by afx
Russell C Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Thanks Ron. Almost as nice as your Ranchero. And in case you need any additional ideas, there was actually a full size 914 'ranchero'.
afx Posted January 19, 2014 Author Posted January 19, 2014 And in case you need any additional ideas, there was actually a full size 914 'ranchero'. Thanks Russell but I don't think that is where I am going with this build. Can you tell me how you add a hyperlink in the text? I have tried but I can't figure it out.
Foxer Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 I'm paying close attention to your great build, but pausing to show Hyperlink. There's a weird looking icon about in the middle of the row above you typing area ... actually I belive it's supposed to be a chain ... it says "Link" when you pass th ecursor over it. You first go highlight and copy (ctrl c) the link from the page you want to link. Then highlite the text you wish to add th elink to and hit that Link icon. Just paste (ctrl v) the copied link into the box that pops up and hit OK.
