crazyjim Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 Here's my latest build painted in HOK nova orange. I removed the stock gas tank, opened the rear wheel wells, spartan interior, straight front axle, wired & plumbed the Chevy big block. This is also the first time I made my own decals.
roadhawg Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 Now that's pretty cool! Where'd you get those fenderwell headers?
crazyjim Posted March 28, 2013 Author Posted March 28, 2013 Thanks, guys. The headers came out of my parts bin. I have no idea of the original source. Sorry.
1320wayne Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 Very nice Jim. But, aren't you supposed to wait until later in the year to let folks see this buildup or are you doing another version for the club build?
crazyjim Posted March 28, 2013 Author Posted March 28, 2013 Thanks, Wayne. I have another kit waiting for the club build.
John Pol Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 I really like that I`m also building a 50 Olds as part street car and for the drags do it for customer. Where did the headers come from and what program did you use to do the decals with? Love the whole model. John Pol
slusher Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 Awsume build Jim, looks killer. love the decal and color. l am finishing my second build. your putting out the builds.
crazyjim Posted March 28, 2013 Author Posted March 28, 2013 Thanks a heap, guys. I don't know what kit the headers are from, John. I just went through my headers draw and found them. I used Corel Draw to make the decals. I know it's not Photoshop, but it's what I have.
crazyjim Posted March 28, 2013 Author Posted March 28, 2013 It's sloppy so there's less drag from the alternator when making a pass down the 1/4 mile.
Grumpa Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 Great lookin' Gasser Jim! Great engine detail, and nice looking decal work!
Ace-Garageguy Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Cool indeed. The Olds is perfect for a sky-high straight-axle gasser.
TooOld Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 It's sloppy so there's less drag from the alternator when making a pass down the 1/4 mile. Good one ! I didn't know you built gassers , it looks pretty cool ! And the decals turned out great !
351 cleve Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Great Job!!! The color fits perfectly. I think this will be my next project. Probably a slammed mild custom.............
W-409 Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Nice work! Olds Gasser is on my "To Build-List" too. The body style is excellent and the Gasser style really fits to this one. Nice and Shiny paint job and excellent detailing in the Engine Bay. Great job.
OldTimer50707 Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 That is a great build. Looking forward to the next one.
crazyjim Posted March 29, 2013 Author Posted March 29, 2013 Thanks guys. A race car is way out of my norm - had to try one though.
crazyjim Posted March 29, 2013 Author Posted March 29, 2013 Thanks, Stephen. It was a fun build - except connecting the fuel lines to the tank.
