what would you build from this 48 chevy?

This has been trimmed on all the wheelwells by previous owner. Im thinking he was going to build a jalopy or early stock car? what would you build it as? Im clueless for now.

thanks for the input! Any other ideas? maybe a UFO spaceship or full skirted fenders like on a Nash bathtub style car of some sort?

Going with the wheel wells butchered idea, maybe some sort of 4-wheel drive? Not necessarily a monster truck, but a mud vehicle. Maybe something post-apocalyptic?

My first thought when I saw that body was a BAJA style race car. Modern high-end racing suspension and a cool oldschool paintjob. Just to be different. Like this one:
