Porscheman Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 (edited) This is a Modelhaus kit purchased at NNl East. It is strickly a curbside and a lot of fun. I did have trouble with the paint on this one. Someone that I'm married to, dumped out my Bleach White and replace it with water. So the 1st 24 hour soak was useless, but at the time I didn't know this. So I painted it and nothing stuck. Over to Pepboy's for some Purple Power and another 24 hours. This time everything went perfect, until the bottom part of my Tamiya paint stand fell off and the body hit the floor. Another 24 hours in Purple Power, Tamiya stand glued and it's done. Painted in Dupli-color Cayman green (Aqua) with maitching interior.Hope you like it, because I'm getting high on the paint fumes.Al Edited April 30, 2013 by Porscheman
tomsheehy Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Looks great, go get some air Looks like the bounce off the floor didn't cause any major damage, thankfully.
W-Machine Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Al, you astound me. Even with mishaps, you STILL manage to get yet another one done this quickly after NNL East! I like the look of this Mercury, and the color choice really works.
TooOld Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 After all of that the paint turned out great ! Lots of BMF on there too , very nice work !
lazlow Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 that looks great, My grand father had one when I was a kid I remeber that center back windo going up and down.
realgone58 Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Beautiful! Love Cayman green, I've used it before, great color.
Porscheman Posted May 1, 2013 Author Posted May 1, 2013 Thank you everyone. I really like the way it turned out. There was a lot of BMF on this one. BMF and building models are recommended by my doctors, believe or not. They say it keeps my hands steady since I have Parkinson's Disease. This is why I build models all the time. It's therapy.Thank you again.Al
Porscheman Posted May 1, 2013 Author Posted May 1, 2013 Thanks Lee, Albie and Chuck for the nice comments.
Lovefordgalaxie Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 Loved it!! What a nice build. I like them curbside models a lot.
Sixties Sam Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Very nice old Merc! Those breezeways were cool! Nice finish in spite of all your troubles. Good work! Sam
Lunajammer Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Flashback! Al, this is a dead ringer (minus two doors) for the sedan the Sisters used to drive to school in when I was a kid. My elementary music teacher was a firm but saucy nun from Ireland. She and her brogue were in charge of the convent's motor pool and she kept the Merc humming. Now that you've sacrificed for that finish, it is now blessed. Nice work.
Porscheman Posted May 5, 2013 Author Posted May 5, 2013 Thanks everyone for your nice compliments. My uncle had a powder blue 68 Breezeway. The rear window didn't slant in like the model, but towards the trunk like a with a formal roof. Thanks again, Al
