W-409 Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 (edited) Today I drove to school with my 1980 Tunturi Trial (A Finnish Classic Moped, very rare) as usual. We went to church with out Class for a visit. I parked it to the Parking Lot as usual, and locked it with its Steering Lock that makes steering impossible. I took my helmet inside and went to the church as my Classmates did too. When the Lesson ended and we went to Parking Lot, a girl that's on our class asked if I saw his helmet anywhere. It was stolen from her scooter. Well I said "No, it was there when I came, but haven't seen it since then." But then I started looking around....Where is My Tunturi?!?!?!?!?!?!!!!!!! It was gone and I didn't see it anywhere nearby. So someone took my Bike and her helmet, so maybe someone had opened the steering lock somehow and had driven away???? Well then we went to Police Station with my Dad and currently Tunturi is wanted by Police. It was 300 Euros when I bought it. I spent over 2,000 Euros for restoring it, and it was in good shape. Hopefully they'll find it somewhere, if not, I hope the insurance pays me something. So....What's Wrong With Some People?! Edited May 15, 2013 by W-409
MAGNUM4342 Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 I expected something different, but that's not a bad looking bike. I'm sorry that happened to you Niko. I myself have little use for the human race at large...because they do stuff like this. I hope the insurance does you right.
W-Machine Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 What's wrong with people? Hard to give just one answer, but it helps if you regard some humans as laboratory test animals.
slammedi'am Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Man that sucks...Hope they find it and catch who took it.....
Nxr Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 What a scumbag, hope its still together and not a pile of parts, some people out there just look to harm and do evil to others...
mnwildpunk Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 I was once told and later found it to be true. "locks only keep honest people honest" if some thief wants what you have they will get it. Good luck I hope they find it for ya
rmvw guy Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 You mean they have thieves in Finland too? I thought only in America. I hope you get it back in one piece and the person that stole it loses a couple of fingers.
uncle potts Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 There's a lot of garbage out there claiming to be part of the human race.
cobraman Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Thats a cool looking bike. I hope you get it back in one piece. Good luck.
zenrat Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 maybe God is telling you to get a safer mode of transportation? Gee Joe you're all heart. Sorry to read about your loss Niko that looks like it was fun.
peekay Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Sorry to hear about that - some people have zero respect for others. I hope it's insured but I doubt that can ever compensate for the time and work spent on the restoration.
Ace-Garageguy Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 What's Wrong With People?! Something I've been wondering about for a very long time. I hope you get the bike back.
BKcustoms Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 I can't stand it when people do things like this. I hope you're able to get your bike back.
Evilbenny Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 I call it the decay of society. We all have a front row seat.
JM485 Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 I'm really sorry about your bike. I have an RM 250 dirtbike that I treat like royalty and I can't imagine what I would do if someone took it. I really hope it turns up, hang in there.
Modelbuilder Mark Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 You will never be able to understand with a sane mind that which goes on in the head of a nutter, don't bother to try. Just know that creeps have been aroiund since the beginning, and continue to breed. BTW, here in Indiana when I was in high school 80-84 I had a small motorcycle, and what you had would have also been considered a motorcycle here, because it does not have peddles. I lived in the country, so it was not an issue, but a cop did make me aware. I wish you the best on a resolution.
Guest Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 This is just my theory on thieves, but I think their attitude is "why work and pay for it when I can just steal it from someone that does?" There aren't many things lower than a thief IMO.
wrecker388 Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Check local auction websites if you have something like that over there. My brother found a stolen mountain bike of his on Craigslist, so I'd check them if I were you. Sorry to hear that Niko.

Bad enough to take the results of a man's work...lots worse to take a man's means TO work.

My niece went into my sister's /brother-in-law's (her parents) house and stole several things out of my brother-in-laws garage. No forced entry since she had a key (long story). One item was a left handed compound bow and some arrows. When my brother-in-law confronted her, she had the nerve to tell him that she could get his bow and arrows back if he would give her $150!! She wanted to sell the bow (that she stole from her own father) back to him!!
charlie8575 Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Bad people have always been around. The problem we seem to be running up against now is the combination of a lack of character and ethics education at home and at school. There are plenty of well-documented societal ills that have become especially prevalent over the last twenty or so years, with much of it culminating in most of western society having become a society of takers rather than producers. As a result, most people have lost an appreciation for the value and need of work, and simply prefer to help themselves to the fruits of another's labor, or even worse, as Bill pointed out, their proverbial "seed corn." I really do hope you get that bike back, Niko. As you were advised, watch eBay, Craigslist and any other Internet service. Upon seizing the crooks, may I suggest leaving them on the other side of the Russian border? Charlie Larkin

charlie8575 Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Some of the Middle Eastern cultures have rather appropriate punishments for theft. 'Tis true, but they don't have the Russian-Finnish bad blood! Charlie Larkin
