ratnasty Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Here is something I started playing with last night , it might work out pretty decent Chuck
Mister Twister Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 That looks good...I'd change that scoop and do it as a modern Super Gas/Comp car. Any way it'll look great.
PappyD340 Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Great start Chuck, I agree with Darryl, I think I would change up the hood scoop, but that's just me, I think it will look NICE whatever you choose to do!!
Jim_Kampmann Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Chuck - where did the body come from? It looks really great! Thanks, Jim Kampmann
ScaleDale Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Is that the Larry Morgan Super Clean kit? I saw that at v8models.com. Dale
comp1839 Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 great start, chuck. i really like that style olds body. will this be a period correct prostock? also, are you doing a replica of someones car or a fictitious build?
caine440 Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 I see a W.J. Olds there. I like the scoop it fits that time period.
Alan Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Nope, leave that scoop just as is because that is what was used at the time those cars were run, but I know you know that Chuck ...... Now here is a body we need cast ..... Don't know why they scrapped doing the kit, issuing that one is a no brainer!!!! You could also do a killer Stock or Super Stocker with this as well
Red rocket 10 Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Chuck who makes the body and are they still available ? Look's great ! Leonard
W-409 Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 You could also do a killer Stock or Super Stocker with this as well Alan you read my mind. I thought exactly that same thing right away when I saw the pics. But as a Pro Stock, it will look very good too. Can't wait to see more.
ratnasty Posted June 23, 2013 Author Posted June 23, 2013 Its a resin body I picked up that represents a 1987 Olds but I'm redoing it to make the 1982-84 olds. The body had 1/25th scale wheel openings on a 1/24th scale car. I talked with my caster and we are going to redo the body completely as a Pro Stock only body and yes Cain you nailed it .....A WJ car will be made out of it and I'll be doing the decals for the silver car and the black car.Its in in the early stages right now , I'm reworking the the grill and headlights and I have already open up the wheel wells and now I have to start do the lips .Chuck
Alan Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 I knew that is what you were planning for that Chuck ...... Put me on the list for a body and decals please Alan
Bowtienutz Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Chuck I'm all in for that WJ car when it's available I'll be watching this post.
cruz Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Love this bro, you have got to PM me when the bodies are available, my head is damaged!!!!
kalbert Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 I vote keep the old school scoop. It's period correct for the rest of the body!
Car Crazy 81 Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 (edited) Chuck, Nice start on the Cutlass where you found this resin body i would love to find one to replicate my neighbors 84 Cutlass that he used to race in Super Comp class back in the early 90's. Edited July 18, 2013 by Car Crazy 81
stump Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Chuck, I likes that a lot, and would maybe consider a return to 1:25 just to build one of these. Great work and brilliant idea mate.
Jakezilla bowling Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Man my buddy has that car just with a diffrent scope that runs 10.90s if I was you It would look bad ass as a hurst style car
PlasticWagens Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 So who was the original caster for this? I am looking for 4-5 and while 1/25 works better for my applications, I am not picky.
ratnasty Posted October 25, 2013 Author Posted October 25, 2013 I bought it off of ebay and I don't remeber from who , but I may sell or trade it off I have 2 of them , PM methanks Chuck
