Joe Handley Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 So I took it to the dealer I bought it from and then went to find the salesman I bought it from to say hi while I was there and found a snake sunning itself by the front window of the sales department!
Joe Handley Posted July 27, 2013 Author Posted July 27, 2013 And yes Chicago guys, I know saying it was "sunning itself" wasn't quite accurate for the day
Mrdarkmonkey96 Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Is marrying a car under "beastiality"?? I sure hope not, cause Im in love!
charlie8575 Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Is marrying a car under "beastiality"?? I sure hope not, cause Im in love! That Viper might be less expensive than some women... Man, that thing looks like all business. If one of these sweepstakes/lotteries I enter periodically ever hit, I would be seriously tempted. Charlie Larkin

Joe Handley Posted July 27, 2013 Author Posted July 27, 2013 Well, these do still carry some of the old Viper's more insane and well..........axe murderer......tendancies, could be a toss up there.....
Mrdarkmonkey96 Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Well, these do still carry some of the old Viper's more insane and well..........axe murderer......tendancies, could be a toss up there..... what do you mean by tendancies?
Joe Handley Posted July 27, 2013 Author Posted July 27, 2013 The Viper wasn't the best car for people who have more money than driving ability. Being short, wide, and having enough torque to show up some diesels......it could be a handful.

I had the opportunity to drive one for a fundraiser for our school a dealership held.. It was the model before they had traction control, and 2st to 3rd gear , All of a sudden, The car was backwards the way we were going.... Ooops.. You want to see a Salesman turn white! and this was in front of my whole school...never lived that down.. Im a very small guy, maybe 5'8" and they are a cramped car, and it was not comfortable at all! Edited July 27, 2013 by Mrdarkmonkey96

Had a former coworker tell me about a neighbor who has a first gen GTS. He was racing another sports car on one of the toll roads when he spotted a State Trooper and punched the whoa pedal...........and that resulted in him doing some triple digit 360ºs and scaring himself so bad he went out and traded it on some high end Mercedes that had idiot.......errrrr.....driver's aids.

Good. get rid of them BEFORE you get hurt. I woulda paid to have gotten a goPro stuck in dash of that car to hear the guy scream!
Joe Handley Posted July 27, 2013 Author Posted July 27, 2013 That was kinda just as digital cameras were just coming out, somewhere between '98 & '01 when I switched to my current job. Back then it would literally have been a VHS recorder, maybe with the mini tapes (can't remember if we had that tech by then). Sure would be glad it wasn't in Smell-O-Vision too, burned up tires and brakes would be the best smells coming from that car! Hopefully the car was bought by somebodybwho was a more competent driver and has lived on to this day.
PappyD340 Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Did you get sticker shock or was there even a price on it, I wonder if they charge for test drives???
o-man Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 The new cars are much more "tame" than the prior generations. I'm sure it would still be a handful on a race track. I had troubles with a dyno tuned C6 Z06, so I'm sure this would be scarier
Joe Handley Posted July 27, 2013 Author Posted July 27, 2013 Did you get sticker shock or was there even a price on it, I wonder if they charge for test drives??? Considering the trouble I had forcing myself to sign the paperwork for my 200, which was less than $23k before tax, title, license, and extended warranty, I was afraid to look!
JollySipper Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 I remember reading that when the GTS first hit the dealer lots, that you were required to take a driving course before you could buy one..... Seems like a very good idea!
Joe Handley Posted July 28, 2013 Author Posted July 28, 2013 Looks like a beautiful car. What is the price? Considering the trouble I had forcing myself to sign the paperwork for my 200, which was less than $23k before tax, title, license, and extended warranty, I was afraid to look!
DrKerry Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 hmmm car....wife.......car.....wife.......- alright! gimme the keys! Amen, and I'm not even a Mopar guy!!!!!!! LOL
Jantrix Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 This reminds me of Bill Cosby and his bit about his brief ownership of the Cobra Super Snake.
Mrdarkmonkey96 Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 This reminds me of Bill Cosby and his bit about his brief ownership of the Cobra Super Snake. what happened?
Joe Handley Posted July 29, 2013 Author Posted July 29, 2013 I think it tried to kill him and succeeded with one of it's next owners.
Jantrix Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Yep, it was too much far most mortal men to handle, so Bill returned it to Mr. Shelby, who resold it to someone else who had more money than driving skill. He died in it. The car has allegedly been restored. Mr. Cosblys bit on it is called, 200 MPH.
