Ryanlat22 Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 I just finished this Revell Chevelle. The color is testors fiery orange topped with wet look clear, the wheels are from the 65 chevy stepside pickup kit, and the front suspension is lowered. This was my first time foiling ( tin foil and Elmer's glue), clear coating, engine wiring, suspension modifying, using parts from other kits, etc. I know it is not the same quality as many that I have seen on here, but I am only 17 and want to get better so all questions/comments/criticism/tips are welcomed. Thanks for looking! Btw sorry for the bad quality phone pics, hopefully I posted them right.
mikemodeler Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Nice job on that Chevelle! Where in NC are you? There could be a club or swap meet near you and that is a great place to learn and chat with others.
Danno Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Quite good build, young man! Keep it up. And, as Mike said, don't be bashful about joining a local club ~ you'll have a great time and learn a lot!
Ryanlat22 Posted July 31, 2013 Author Posted July 31, 2013 Thanks everybody for the compliments, I really appreciate it. I saw a flyer for a club at my local hobby lobby but unfortunately I was unable to make it to the meeting, I will try to make it next month. My next build I just started is the 65 chevy pickup that I just stole the wheels from for this build
o-man Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 I wish I had skills like that when I was 17. Heck, I wish I had skills like that now! Great job.
PappyD340 Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Very Nice Ryan, what part of NC? great job on the Chevelle!
Ryanlat22 Posted August 1, 2013 Author Posted August 1, 2013 Thank you guys! Yes I loved the color as soon as I saw it Dave. The bad pictures are doing the car justice, you can't see most of my mistakes and goofs that I made. Larry, I am in the Wimington area. These wheels are awesome, if I had the money I would buy 20 of the truck kit just to steal the wheels from. Torque Thrusts are my favorite wheels by a long shot!
Chris White Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Only wished the pictures were better. Love the build
Marcus M. Jones Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 nice choice of color and wheels... i like this.
Ryanlat22 Posted August 3, 2013 Author Posted August 3, 2013 I know that I will have to find a way to get better pictures, the phone is just so convenient though. Thanks, I love the charger in your profile pic Marcus!
lazlow Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 Man that's sweet, that stance makes the ride, Love to have a 1to1. Dude if you can build like this now You will end up in the model mag's with in the next few years. Laz
Skydime Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 (edited) Cool Chevelle! I really like the color scheme here. I never have any luck out of that one particular color but, yours looks sharp. I foil on a budget too, and I know it can be a pain this way. You really did a nice application with what you had to work with. I look forward to more of your builds. Edited August 3, 2013 by Skydime
ewaskew Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 Very nice build Ryan I'll have to try some of that Aluminum foil with the Elmer's glue.
Modlbldr Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 Don't forget about the "Trade" and "Wanted" section to swap for those wheels. BTW- the Chevelle looks great. Excellent color choice. Later-
Dr. Cranky Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 You got a beautiful stance and look to this one. Sweet.
Ryanlat22 Posted August 3, 2013 Author Posted August 3, 2013 This model was built as a physical form of my dream car in my head, so having a 1:1 of this would definitely make my day. The aluminum foil works if you are on a tight budget but it is an absolute pain in the butt to use and try to get smooth. Lazlow and Dr. Cranky, the stance was one of the things I knew I had to get perfectly right to pull off the look I wanted. Also Dr. Cranky, I've watched some of your videos and will have to try some of your methods, thanks for sharing them!
Johnny1973 Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Great work on the Chevelle.Nice color and wheel choice.
