There is cool picture in a book about these cars that shows a bunch of them racing on a dirt track in their coutry of origin! It is awesome.

Actually, from a looks standpoint, it would have fit right in with the evil cars in "Cars 2". The car itself was actually quite good at what it was intended for. And yes, I DO know what it is... REAL!

A lot of you guys got this one right... but only on the second or third try! Many of you insisted that this is a Messerschmitt, but it is not! It's an FMR Tg500. FMR took over production of the 3-wheeled Messerschmitt KR200 in in 1956, and they added this four-wheeled "Tiger" in late 1957 as a 1958 model. It was heavily based on the Messerchmitt 3-wheeler, but it was badged and sold as an FMR Tg500.

This particular car was recently sold at auction for more than $300,000, which is a record for a microcar.

This car was also shown on "Chasing classic cars" when Wayne was viewing the whole collection and went to the auction. I still find it increadable that it went for $322,000. I guess I understand as there were only 320 produced and this is the best remaining example, but I think we might be on a bubble in bubble cars. Interesting history. Designed by Fritz Fend(the F in FMR) originally as transport for severely injured from the war, the controls were all on the steering yoke. You pushed it forward to go forward and pulled it back to go back. Messerschmitt contracted Fend to produce the KR series of them when people started buying them for basic transportation. The tiger was created as the "sport" version, with 4 wheels instead of 3 and a more powerful(or more correctly less underpowered) motor. Nice choice Harry.

You know I think I saw one of those go across Mecum a while back. Ah well doesn't matter now, neat "little" car though. If anyone owns one all I gotta say is watch out of street sweepers.

I thought too it was a Messerschmitt. I tried to search again what it could be, but found no answer. I have never heard of FMR before. Well next time I know.
