I'm rather surprised no one has posted one of the most iconic swoopy cars, Mercedes 500K Roadster

Same goes for the Mercedes 300SL Gullwing and roadster.

In the first round of Gullwing shots, there are some images of one painted strawberry red metallic (not the very red version shown). The rear shot shows the color most accurately. Any suggestions for a close spray can version?

Skip- that Nashville exhibit looks like it's well worth the time. I do wish I could make a trip down there to see it.

As to the metallic red on the Gullwing- I'm thinking a Ford color of recent production called Redfire might get you in that general range or red, give or take a shade. Chrysler has also introduced a new color called Cherry Red, which is a bit more red, but about the same tone.

These are all beautiful cars, and consistently among my favorites, but I fear "swoopy" is getting pretty vague now... :):D

I agree. This topic seems to have gone off track a bit.

This Roadster which appears to be the same color was at the Mercedes Classic Center in 2010, you could call and ask them what the exact color is on that '54 Gullwing.

Thanks, Dave. I have the paint code number and have been in contact with the parts manager at the Mercedes Classic Center in Irvine, who has been helpful to me in many matters, but this paint doesn't exist anymore.
