sjordan2 Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 I particularly appreciate how Voisin devised clever engineering to keep the front fenders from falling off
Jon Cole Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Swoopy Semi ? There's something about that truck's profile....

blunc Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 I'm rather surprised no one has posted one of the most iconic swoopy cars, Mercedes 500K Roadster
sjordan2 Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 I'm rather surprised no one has posted one of the most iconic swoopy cars, Mercedes 500K Roadster Same goes for the Mercedes 300SL Gullwing and roadster.

Bernard Kron Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 These are all beautiful cars, and consistently among my favorites, but I fear "swoopy" is getting pretty vague now...

sjordan2 Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 (edited) In the first round of Gullwing shots, there are some images of one painted strawberry red metallic (not the very red version shown). The rear shot shows the color most accurately. Any suggestions for a close spray can version? Edited August 19, 2013 by sjordan2
charlie8575 Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Skip- that Nashville exhibit looks like it's well worth the time. I do wish I could make a trip down there to see it. As to the metallic red on the Gullwing- I'm thinking a Ford color of recent production called Redfire might get you in that general range or red, give or take a shade. Chrysler has also introduced a new color called Cherry Red, which is a bit more red, but about the same tone. Charlie Larkin
Harry P. Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 These are all beautiful cars, and consistently among my favorites, but I fear "swoopy" is getting pretty vague now... I agree. This topic seems to have gone off track a bit.
SoCalCarCulture Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 This Roadster which appears to be the same color was at the Mercedes Classic Center in 2010, you could call and ask them what the exact color is on that '54 Gullwing. 042710 Mercedes-Benz Classic Center 060 by SoCalCarCulture, on Flickr 042710 Mercedes-Benz Classic Center 061 by SoCalCarCulture, on Flickr 042710 Mercedes-Benz Classic Center 062 by SoCalCarCulture, on Flickr 042710 Mercedes-Benz Classic Center 063 by SoCalCarCulture, on Flickr 042710 Mercedes-Benz Classic Center 064 by SoCalCarCulture, on Flickr ...a little more info in this pic... 042710 Mercedes-Benz Classic Center 185 by SoCalCarCulture, on Flickr
sjordan2 Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Thanks, Dave. I have the paint code number and have been in contact with the parts manager at the Mercedes Classic Center in Irvine, who has been helpful to me in many matters, but this paint doesn't exist anymore.
