stavanzer Posted February 27, 2021 Posted February 27, 2021 So, are the Gee-T and Sno Skeeter almost the same kit? What kit would have suitable One piece tires? Would the Mini Craft Model "A" Hot Rod Flattie trans plant into this kit? Would the Lindberg Exterminator Twin Engine Dragster be a good choice for kit bashing? Thanks!

Yes, both are almost the same, save for the ski stuff in the sno-skeeter. 9 minutes ago, alexis said: What kit would have suitable One piece tires? The 1/16 AMT Firestone tires found in the '57 T-Bird and Tri-Fire Chevy kits are much better IMHO, and period correct. Several 1/16 Entex/Minicraft kits include taller tires with separate whitewalls (Minicraft '33 Cadillac for one), too. 11 minutes ago, alexis said: Would the Mini Craft Model "A" Hot Rod Flattie trans plant into this kit? Yes. From what I recall having the hot rod pickup version years ago, the engine is well done, and it should fit the Lindberg/Pyro T with no problem. I can't recall which trans is paired with the Minicraft hopped-up Flathead, though...early Ford, I'm guessing. I think that engine would pair very well with the Revell '34 Ford Coupe, and something I plan to try eventually. 13 minutes ago, alexis said: Would the Lindberg Exterminator Twin Engine Dragster be a good choice for kit bashing? No, that kit is 1/8 scale. The Lindberg Fiat Dragster is 1/12, so no help there, either. The Revell '34 Fords have some very nice parts, and make great donors IMHO. Altered States lists a 1/16 scale SOHC Ford V8, in both injected and supercharged versions. 1/16 Revell '82 Camaro/Firebird, MPC Firebirds ('80 and '82), MPC Corvettes (all)....meh.
stavanzer Posted February 27, 2021 Posted February 27, 2021 Thanks Casey. You really have my mind in gear. Of Course, the Gee-T and Skeeter are the ones that Haven't been re-popped! Looks Like I need Tires from AMT, Engine From a Revell '34, and a Gee-T kit to hang everything on..........

Great, competition for those 1/16 scale parts...?? Two Pyro sno-skeeters were listed and have ended within the last few days, so we likely won't see another for a few months. ?
alan barton Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 (edited) Just a quick bit of useless information but the custom tooth grille in the Sno Skeeter and Gee T was also in the original Tee N T, along with a pair of late fifties, early sixties style fluted clear taillights. I still have them after all these years. The Tee N T, AKA Bullhorn T, is a magnificent kit and a joy to build. Once you have the frame squared away (literally) it is a straight forward build. If you have ever built a Big T you will have a strong sense of deja vu! Cheers Alan Edited March 1, 2021 by alan barton
Greg Myers Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 Which brings to mind, which came first, Big Tee or Bull Horn ?
Mark Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 Monogram's 1/8 scale kits came first. Pyro didn't issue their 1/16 scale kits until 1964 or 1965. The old CAR MODEL magazine had a preview article about them, as well as a couple of build articles in later issues.

Mr. Metallic Posted March 2, 2021 Posted March 2, 2021 I have the Snow Skeeter. Any idea of a source for replacement 1 piece tires for the rear paddle snow/sand type tires? The 2 piece ones in the kit don't appear to match up well as far as tread pattern side to side, and would really distract from an otherwise well rendered kit.
crossfire 2004 Posted March 2, 2021 Posted March 2, 2021 I managed to make this from an original Bullhorn with help from the Serpent kit.
iBorg Posted March 2, 2021 Posted March 2, 2021 And a very nice build that shows how nice this can be.
Casey Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 (edited) Might be time for the folks at Round2 to find those sno-skeeter specific parts and reissue this one. ? Edited May 20, 2021 by Casey

The body and nose look suspiciously like the XR6. Wouldn't be the first time for Lindberg.

I wonder if they are the ones with the tooling. Round2 sold a whole bunch of the older non-Craft House Lindberg stuff (that they keep rebranding as AMT) down the road to Atlantis. I wonder if they're not the ones with a lot of the Pyro/Palmer molds at this point. They would fit in with their product line with them reproducing the large scale Revell/Monogram drag kits again. The XR6 definitely inspired the nose.

It's possible, but I got the feeling the more obscure (well, I guess if we're being fair that adjective would apply to the bulk of both Lindberg and Pyro's back catalog) Pyro and Lindberg stuff went to Atlantis, not necessarily everything. The Serpent version was last reissued in 2Q 2017, so it probably does fit within that acquisition window, though. I guess we will see what happens in the future from both companies.
Mark Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 It will be interesting to see what Atlantis rolls out after they secure licensing with Ford. Chrysler too, for that matter...
