beeRS Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 That is a truly beautiful model Scott. I can see that you put a lot of research into this one. If I'm not mistaken the Cord 812 was one of the first front-wheel-drive cars made. I have the Monogram kit in my stash, waiting to be built some day. I thought it would make a good Hot Rod, but looking at your one - I think I'll build it stock. Thanks for sharing your pic's with us - it looks great!
Dr Plastic Posted September 12, 2013 Author Posted September 12, 2013 Thanks everyone! Sonny that's the way I like it. I find it is actually harder to build it "Showroom Stock" than trick one out! I found the video at the end of my post to be truly enlightening as to how the car operated as a whole and revealed a lot of details!!
blazefox Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Let me say wow on this very quality build
peekay Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 I've already said wow but I keep coming back for another look. I have to say again, this one really blows me away!
Aaronw Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 I really hate it when people take photos of a real car and try to pass them off as a model. You must have a huge photo booth to fit your car in there. Excellent job!
Art Anderson Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 A spectacular piece of work, gorgeous from any angle. I believe the resin body was created by our fellow member, Art Anderson, who did a wonderful job with it. The Monogram kit is not a 2-seater Sportsman but a Phaeton with a back seat, and I just received this 1965 kit yesterday, which I will use as reference for converting the AMT 1/12 Sportsman into a phaeton. The details on the 1/24 kit are so tiny, I don't know how anyone can finish it properly. I thought the body looked familiar---NICE WORK! Art
Neil Bass Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 I'm trying to think of some adjectives that are better than exquisite and beautiful and fantastic etc. Well I'm stumped. Besides being a great model, it's fascinating to see what's really under that transmission bulge.
Chuck Most Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Masterful work on this! One of my all-time favorite designs, even in sedan form.
george 53 Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 WOW! That rascal is flat out beautiful in that body!!!! They're beautiful as it is, but with that body, WOW! Beautiful job!
dimaxion Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 I am going to copy pics of this for reference . I am building a Cord Phaeton , Cord Convertable (no back seat) from the Dreaded Trio . A '36 Indy (Pace) Official Car + a Humpback Sedan , and Slopeback Sedan from AAM conversions . Monogram's kits as donars or as it were ; raw material . You could sat , I like Cords . I need some chassis shots for exhaust routing ect. I cannot view Videos on Mon'suer 'Puter . Any suggestions for a source for this info ? The Monogram kits are buried in the Archives . All three are inaccessable in other words . The Phaeton is in Finish Coat . You created a Beauty . A tirbute to the 1:1 . Thanx ..

charlie8575 Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Well I took the Cord 812 to it's first show, The 21st annual Tidewater Automotive Society's (TAMS) Model car and Truck contest in Norfolk, Virginia and it won First place in the Factory Stock, '59 and older class, Most Popular Model and Best In Show. And deserved every bit of it! Congratulations! Charlie Larkin
mangodart Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 I'm pretty sure the pics don't deserve your model as it should do !!! Amazing work, I was lucky enough to have one in my garage once in France, and to see it move and drive, it's a "souvenir" I'll never forget, very impressive !!!
