chunkypeanutbutter Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 The only thing I really miss from cable (last had DirecTV about six years ago) is the Speed Channel.
Ace-Garageguy Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Decided to walk home from work today (about 4.5 miles). All the trash on the side of the road was really irritating. Seems like some people still think the world is their own private garbage dump. This county I live in used to be really clean, and I think the roadsides were cleaner in general when the "keep America beautiful" campaigns were running. I'd like to see littering fines of $5000. That oughta stop it. Or just let it be open season on litterers. Catch 'em in the act, shoot 'em.
cobraman Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 I agree with you Bill. I walk everyday for between 4 and 5 miles for health reasons. Junk all over the place. Fast food wrappers, cigarette butts and wrappers, soda cans, high energy drink cans, empty potato chip bags. What slobs. Even by the bus stop I walk past sometimes and there is a trash can right there !
chunkypeanutbutter Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 (edited) Apple cores and such easily-degradable food items are all that I throw out of a car. All junk gets put in a shopping bag inside. Highly inconsiderate to litter from a car, but some people don't think twice about it. Edited March 27, 2015 by chunkypeanutbutter
Ramfins59 Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Snow flurries here on the first day of Spring...... with more below freezing weather forecasted for a couple of days...!!! Winter just does NOT want to let go yet. I just can't wait to be able to shut down my furnace and get away from the higher gas bills.
vintagedragcrazy Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Funny you said that ace me and my brother were looking around today at all the garbage along the road and we were talking about the old commercial on tv with the Indian standing looking over the garbage with a tear going down his cheek just about says it all. High octane Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Years ago, I was walking around this small lake and casting (fishing) here and there hoping for a bite. Everywhere I went, there was garbage along the shoreline and it was disgusting to see what lazy slobs can do to our beautiful country. Keep America Beautiful is passé I'm sorry to say.
southpier Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 i throw out dental floss. seriously; i floss like a zillion times a day, or more. buy the 12 packs from amazon. birds use it for their nests.
Ramfins59 Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Again I turned on the TV to tune in to my favorite Friday night show... Blue Bloods... and what was on CBS.......... BASKETBALL...!!! I could care less about basketball...

Some of the areas I run my crawler trucks are in either picinic areas and or fishing areas and I find that all the freaking time! The most disgusting part of it is that there is usually a garbage can or two that they may walk right past going back to their vehicle (or they could just take it home!) But leave the stuff blowing around. Then don't get me started on guys out fishing, I've found sandwich wrappers, empty bait containers (usually differently purposed butter tubs) , hooks laying around.......oh, and fishing line, freaking fishing line, sometimes with rusty hooks just waiting to poke me as I try to untangle and or cut the freaking fishing line from around the axle or axles on the above mentioned trucks.........if any of you local guys are in a park and see a fat, bearded guy with glasses bent over a largeish toy truck attacking something on it with a box cutter or X-Acto knife mumbling not so nice things about those fishermen.......it's just me!

Ace-Garageguy Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 (edited) Throw the food garbage away at home too. Yeah...compost it !! Seriously, apple cores and banana peels do zero environmental damage, don't have to be cleaned up because they disappear, and critters (birds, squirrels) can get some benefit from them. Tom Geiger Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 We recycled our Halloween pumpkin into small brown pellets!

Tom Geiger Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 At least some of it became venison too... Not just yet. This pair lives in the woods in the middle of my development and come around a few times a week. The smaller guy has one horn.

Yes, I know, but nonetheless, it is ugly when you see garbage on the roadside. Keep it, toss it in your own yard for your wildlife. Dont trash the roadways.
Guest Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 We recycled our Halloween pumpkin into small brown pellets! Beautiful! We see deer like that too, they love our crabapples. I am sorry, but I will never understand the need to shoot them, and hold their heads up in pride and have your picture taken. JMO.

cobraman Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Car dealers. One of my wife's best friends wants to buy a new truck and asked if I could do some research. Check prices as much as possible and any incentives and inventory for colors and options. No problem, that's something I might even enjoy doing. Well I had no idea about these stupid pop ups that are for live chat. Every 10 seconds the screen pops up about "Live Chat". Now I don't mind once, it's easy enough to click it off but it gets old quick when you have to do it so often and evey web site has the same thing. It's just a pain in the you know what. IMO

IMO Interesting. I wonder how many consumers are totally turned off, just like you were, by this marketing "good idea". Edited March 28, 2015 by Ace-Garageguy
Joe Handley Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Horizon Hobby has started doing that (one of our customers is even one of them!), and even though I've used it a couple times when I couldn't find the info needed, that chat window is a bit of a nussance.

I agree, but where there's a well thought out deer population management program in place, and the animals culled are actually eaten (as opposed to being put in the freezer 'til the meat is so old or freezer-burned as to be inedible), I don't have a problem with hunting (though I know a few "hunters" who'd pee their pants if anything pointed a gun at them).

The stupid thing starts across the screen and you have to click the X to get rid of it... every 10 seconds... like a shooting gallery game. And ever notice the picture on that app is a really good looking young lady? You just know you're not chatting with her!

For the record, I am not anti hunting or anti gun.

So many are hunting deer and cutting the heads off just to mount and leaving the rest. An animal life is worth more then that...
