Dawson Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 (edited) we need to do like Australia and cut off foriegn ownership, it is in no way beneficial to a country, We could always slide the shoe on the other foot for awhile here .I have owned a seasonal home in Florida for 30 years and have watched Canadian citizens buy up most every thing in our area , So I can relate to your disdain of foreign ownership-or is this some how different ? High octane Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 it's not different in the least bit, maybe the states should curb foreign ownership too That's "food for thought," however it seems a little late in the game though.

russosborne Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 The Joint Chiropractic. Went there yesterday (Phoenix Metrocenter location) as my wife really needed to have her back (sciatica) worked on. They refused to see her since she has Medicare. We were going to pay cash, they don't take insurance. Should be a no brainer, but they absolutely refused. Emailed the corporate office to complain, at first they said that they do take Medicare patients, have lots of them, just will not bill the insurance. Then I suggested they retrain their people, and got a reply that they do NOT take Medicare patients under any circumstance. Seems corporate can't even keep their story straight.IMHO, avoid these scum.Russ
iamsuperdan Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 It happens everywhere. THe problem is what the new owners choose to do with the land they've bought up. Whether they leave it as is or whether they tear down and put up something awful, that's the bigger issue. Regardless of where the new owner comes from. I think more communities should enforce architechtural guidelines. You want to tear down existing buildings and put up new ones? No problem. They just have to fit the character of the neighbourhood. We have some issues in the small town I live in. Half the town council are realtors, so all kinds of ugly and awful buildings get approved, because tax dollars and realty sales are more important I guess. Anyway, the bigger concern here is that you, dieseldawg, need to post more pics of that square body! Looks BA in that photo above!
Tom Geiger Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 I question the process in your town. In the USA you would be informed of any request for a change in zoning (like from single family zoning on a specific minimum size of lot) to another use (like multi family). Certainly with the change you are seeing.

I can't imagine why they would do that. I suggest you call other care providers in your area to see how they deal with Medicare patients...good luck. Edited June 22, 2017 by mike 51

waynehulsey Posted June 23, 2017 Posted June 23, 2017 An on-going irk for me: people who ask questions who obviously haven't bothered to do the least amount of search for the information. Try Google, Bing, Ask, etc. first; or reference books, magazines, etc.; then if you can't find it, throw it up for information.

HomerS Posted June 24, 2017 Posted June 24, 2017 Blunc....I sent it back noting the date he died. Let them look it up or if they cite him for contempt I will give them the cemetery address. I got out of jury duty about four years ago when I was dad's sole caregiver and listed his meds, Dr notes and all his personal info. One would have thought they would have taken him out of the system at that time. What's scary is when his Dementia progressed to the point he was no longer able to care for himself two years ago, he still had a valid CCW.

You might remind this yahoo that Illinois is just about bankrupt and your company is likely more financially stable than his state.
crazyjim Posted June 26, 2017 Posted June 26, 2017 So eliminate Illinois and expand Indiana, Wisconsin, and Iowa.
iamsuperdan Posted June 27, 2017 Posted June 27, 2017 Checked out my credit card statement today online.Discovered 5 fraudulent charges. I'm in Edmonton, AB, Canada. Five transactions through a couple of Casey's General Store locations in Council Bluffs, Iowa. I guess that's a convenience store chain? So I spoke with the guy at VISA, and it turns out the charges were all swiped, not online or phone orders. So somehow, someone in a different country has cloned my card. Now I have a cancelled credit card, and have to wait a week for a new card to arrive. Good times.
Tom Geiger Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 Discovered 5 fraudulent charges. I'm in Edmonton, AB, Canada. when I used to work for a now gone pharmaceutical company, my company card got flagged by management for personal misuse. I hadn't even seen this charge yet, but here I am getting yelled at for it. The charge was $3200 at Wheel City and the location was Pretoria. I looked at this HR goob and asked him if he knew where Pretoria was. Nope. Once I explained it was in South Africa, he turned red and this whole episode went the other direction. I called the card company, they immediately recognized it as fraud and we were not responsible. Got a new card within a week. What really ticked me off was that my company hadn't asked any questions, just jumped to conclusions. And in the end they didn't apologize either.
blunc Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 similar event happened to me, charge at a drug store I've never been to, was told it was swiped in person also.I have no idea how to stop this kind of thing without stopping use of charge cards although I do suspect a couple places I had used that card at.you just never know who will sell your account numbers or where it will get used.(and you never know when your credit card company has been hacked....maybe when they get "outed" two of three years after the fact)
bobthehobbyguy Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 Its only going to get worse. All of the businesses now want you to autopay which means they have your card info in their computers. There is a huge push to do all your business online.Until the banks care about the fraud it isn't going a away. The banks don't care. I remember years ago when the banks used credit card slips with carbon. It was found that crooks were us7ng those slips for fraud. They didn't do anything till they used up the supply of the old forms despite the fraud.
espo Posted June 29, 2017 Posted June 29, 2017 All these thieves need is the number. They then reproduce a card that looks just like yours and go shopping. Last spring my wife and I were getting the spring plants for the yard at Lowes. Our card was shut down by the card company. It seems some one was have a great time at a spa in England on us. They realized it was fraud, but until we called in they said they were not sure. They issued us a new card and number and that was that.
High octane Posted June 29, 2017 Posted June 29, 2017 I'm driving behind some yoyo in a 50mph zone and coming up to an intersection where the light is green, and this idiot is braking for a green light? I don't even want to know what he would do if the light was red.
