So many are hunting deer and cutting the heads off just to mount and leaving the rest. An animal life is worth more then that...

I feel the same way Carl....see too many at times just off the road missing their heads. Many areas have programs to use killed deer to feed needy families.

I didn't know that. Frankly, that makes me furious. I'd like to work a "hunter" like that over with a baseball bat.

In those cases they probably got hit by a car and some opportunist grabbed the head to sell to a taxidermist. I wouldn't be taking a road kill for food since you don't know how long it has been sitting there. I do know who the local deer butcher is, and I've told my wife if we hit one with the car, I'll have it butchered to recoup as food in compensation for the damage to the car.

You might want to think about how you're going to kill the animal too. Car hits often leave maimed animals to die slowly and painfully, sometimes taking days. What would you do with a deer with one or two broken legs and no other serious injury?

The cops at the accident scene will put it out of it's misery. I've seen that done locally.

I'm kinda getting tired of hitting road blocks with my model building skills. I've got three main projects going right now and I'm stuck on one, about to be stuck on another and really hoping I don't get stuck on the third.

I hate to accept sloppy work, but I'm starting to think maybe I just need to go for it and hope for the best. Learn by experience. But I REALLY want my work to start looking cleaner.

Y'know, I've been getting that too.

It's exactly why I've been slowing down lately. Even though I have more projects going than I can count on two hands (and some I probably have forgotten about), I've just been focusing on going slow. It's helping, most certainly.

Buy some better tools and paints, practice scratchbuilding, look for reference pictures, write out a list, whatever. Just keep the idea in your head that every little contributing factor is helping.

Wife just called from a car dealer. Went with a friend who is looking for a car. All the cars have an 800.00 window tint ! Who do they think they are fooling ? : )

Honda dealers were notorious for that type of thing in the Eighties. $200 for a set of mud flaps, $500 pinstriping, $1,000 for Polyglycoat paint treatment. Usually every car got all of it the minute it got backed off of the transporter, too.

Honda dealers were notorious for that type of thing in the Eighties. $200 for a set of mud flaps, $500 pinstriping, $1,000 for Polyglycoat paint treatment.

Dealers in New Jersey try to pull that stuff. When a salesman approached me and asked if he could help, I'd point at the bottom of the factory window sticker and say, "Yea, and we'll be starting negotiations here." Nobody argued.

I remember cars that supposedly had polyglycoat, Scotch Guard on the seats and dealer installed undercoating. Most of the cars on the lot had no such treatments on them, but a dealer added sticker for $1200. Then the dealer would run a big ad screaming, "$1000 off dealer price on every car this weekend!" That was their scam to sell cars at full list price when numpties thought they had saved a grand.

A buddy-0-mine who wasn't too good at negotiation really got screwed over by a Dodge dealer on a new Daytona Pacifica. He paid more than full list for the car after all the hocus pocus on the sales contract. So I went back to the dealer with him and grabbed the sales manager. The car had a special Chrysler finish on it that you'd never need to wax etc. It had a leather interior and factory undercoating. So I started by asking if these services had been performed on that car... he swore that indeed they had. So I told him that they had voided the warranty on the car and we would need them to repaint it, and replace the interior, and we'd be talking to Chrysler directly about this. Talk about an about face! He had someone go out and 'look' at the car. The guy came back and said that they must've forgot to add those services to the car because it hadn't been done! My friend got a $1500 refund on the spot.

There was a resin kit on EBAY for a 1954 Pontiac that looked really good, with chromed bumpers & grille, etc. I sent the seller an inquiry question asking who the resin caster for the item was. I got a response saying that the caster asked to remain anonymous and that that particular kit was no longer in production. Well buddy, if you won't tell me who made it, I'm not bidding on it...

Pulling a muscle in my back loading the car for a trip to the dump.

steve

I pulled a muscle in my lower back 2 weeks ago and am still feeling the effects- ibuprofen has been the biggest help. Hope you feel better soon!

Free! I hate the misleading use of the word Free! Free means that somebody gives you something a no cost. It doesn't mean that you buried it in the price, or jacked up the price or just didn't put it on the receipt. I am so sick of this stuff I could just scream. Free shipping? Really, the post office is having a generous day and decided to not charge anyone today?? No, you included it in the price. It is ok to say shipping included but don't try to convince me that I am going to get is at not cost, because some one has to pay the shipper. No sales tax, well maybe if it is out of state and you are shipping it, but if you sold it to me in state, then I know the sales tax is in there somewhere. The government did not have an amnesty on all sales tax Tuesday through Saturday of this week only! Installation free with purchase of carpet? Come on guys, your installer didn't just decide to work for nothing today. It ain't free! Don't insult my intelligentes by trying to convince me other wise. I have my big boy pants on. It's ok to be honest with me. I know stuff has to be paid for. Unless you are going to give it to me at no cost and not make it up somewhere else, then don't try to convince me I am not paying for it!:angry::angry:

you mean the $300 rebate on new a Chrysler wasn't "free" money?

Not only was it not "free" it added significantly to the overall cost of the car.

I like the old trick of taking your offer and then jacking up the "doc" fees or other some such so in the end the purchase price is what the car was advertised for in the first place.

I saw a cherry '11 Town Car locally for a decent price which was marked on the windshield. I low balled the guy who returned with a "accepted" contract with doc fees that took the price back up to what it was originally. When I asked the sales man if he thought I was stupid he didn't know what to say.

I left.

Maybe they will skip some months and mark the next one May.

The thing is, most others have theirs.

Jeremy...The best advise anyone ever gave me on building is to treat every part as if it was a model itself. And to add to that building is not a race to finish...take your own time and enjoy the build...you will get better as time goes by. Hope this helps you some.

Me my only road blocks seem to be trying to find needed parts or funds.

Ah...so there was a Feb issue. As a subscriber, I'm never sure when to expect an issue..they seem to be very inconsistent.

Posted

I'm never disappointed. I always expect mine when it is in the mailbox. They are very consistent in that. I always sure it will be here and when it is, that's when I expect it.

Cover dates mean nothing. I pay for 9 issues a year and I get 9 issues a year. Each one takes longer to read than two or three issues of the other one together.

I'm not disappointed.

I guess it's all about personal expectations, but I don't expect magazines to have due dates like ... say, ... a newspaper.

I would, obviously, be disappointed in a daily newspaper if it skipped a few days and didn't deliver the news until the end of the week. But of course that's a whole other discussion and has no bearing on hobby entertainment publication subscription expectations. And also, I quit subscribing to printed newspapers years ago because I learned to expect daily news from 24-hour resources such as the internet.

Bottom line, it's all about personal preferences and expectations. I guess the majority aren't terribly offended, since there are still thousands of subscribers and renewals seem to happen.
