Guest Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 As a buyer, I leave feedback when I've received the item, regardless of whether the seller leaves feedback. Not sure why I'd wait on the seller to leave feedback first.. Because I've completed my end of the transaction first.
Modelbuilder Mark Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 I am getting to the age where I do not think I am old, but I am certainly not young. BUT..I try yo dtsy fit, however, it is now getting to where the workouts cause pain. I was have now damaged a rotater cuff, and what they are calling a "repetitive use" injury, but something snapped in my neck.during my last workout, yeah, more to go with the ruptured disc in the back.. "What a drag it is getting old"
Ace-Garageguy Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 "What a drag it is getting old" Yeah, but young people probably couldn't handle it.
Agent G Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Hey Ray, Hobby Lobby sells the same basic case in 8.5 inch length and 9 inch. Both are marked for 1/24 scale cars. Guess how I found out? G
cobraman Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Thanks Wayne. I took one of my Cobra die cast cars out of a nice case it came in and it was the perfect size for the Biscayne.
Joe Handley Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 My Sister and I stopped by the Jewel-Osco Mom and I used to work at and as we were cashing out at self check out, another self checkout user ent her kid to bring to the attention of the girl observing the registers that the hot dog buns that were supposed to be 2 for $4 were instead ringing up at $2 a bag.........it took the cashier and me both to convince her that was right!
High octane Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 For those who don't know, those "self checkout" lanes are taking away JOBS from other people. I think that we have ENOUGH people out of work as it is.
crazyjim Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 I watered half the lawn yesterday and one of my flower gardens this morning. I was planning to water the other half of the lawn tonight. Then we got an inch of very needed rain and it's still coming down. And, naturally, I'm supposed to be cooking steaks & corn on the cob on the grill for tonight's dinner. Maybe the rain will stop by dinner time.

I think that we have ENOUGH people out of work as it is. While I can't say for sure in other stores, the self checkout at my old store only took away one potential cashier job and some sales floor space, as it replaced 2 typical registers with 4 and still has 1 cashier to basically babysit these 4 and the assist/babysit the customers using them.
High octane Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 BOTTOM line Joe is with self checkouts, you're replacing humans with machines, plain and simple.
Rob Hall Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 (edited) BOTTOM line Joe is with self checkouts, you're replacing humans with machines, plain and simple. They probably said the same thing years ago when banks installed ATMs...can't turn back progress. Edited May 25, 2014 by Rob Hall
Joe Handley Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 BOTTOM line Joe is with self checkouts, you're replacing humans with machines, plain and simple. Technically...........no, humans are still involved, but now they're just relying on customers to their own scanning and some of the cashiering. Only thing the machine is replacing is the dispencing of cash if that's how the product is paid for.

Joe Handley Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 (edited) They probably said the same thing years ago when tellers were replaced w/ ATMs...can't turn back progress. And it still requires humans to maintain and fill the machines when they break and run out of reciept tape and/or money, as well as design and then write updated programming for the following generations. Joe Handley Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 (edited) Just like with ATMs and self-service gas stations...faster, more efficient DIY solutions. Eh, not always faster and more efficent, I've run into issues with self checkouts that I wouldn't have if I was operating a cashier run machine instead.......then there's people that make Leroy Jethro Gibbs look like a computer savant or idiots like the one in my old store today................... At least w/ self-checkout, I don't get stuck behind someone paying by check or with loose change (slow, painful). Though the grocery I frequent the most doesn't have self-checkout.

Though the grocery I frequent the most doesn't have self-checkout. That's some of the reasons I like using them, even when using a check like today (light on cash, still neded to fill my 200 by then too), spent enough time running one that it's just faster for me to ring myself out.
Ace-Garageguy Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 My own laziness irked me. I've been so hammered the last few months that when it looked like I could take most of the day off today, i jumped at the chance...even took a nap. Now I'm irked I didn't at least accomplish something small...anything at all. Oh well. On to Taco Bell.

I wish they would invent a system where if a person unloads item #16 onto the belt at the 15 items or less "express lane," they automatically get a 15% surcharge added on to their bill. Or they automatically get tased. Either way...
Rob Hall Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 (edited) You did accomplish something. You took a nap! I took a nap today...and I've watched 12 hours of racing it seems like (Monaco F1, Indy 500, Nascar Coca-Cola 600).. Enjoying a 4 day weekend. Friday was more productive--since I was up until 2:30 am I took two naps during the day. Work has been intense the last month, catching up on lost sleep I guess.... Edited May 26, 2014 by Rob Hall

Joe Handley Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 I like that idea Harry, the tazer portion in particular!
cobraman Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 I got a Netflix DVD that stopped working 20 minutes from the end.
