peekay Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 (edited) The body for this one was painted nearly 30 years ago by a professional car painter where I worked at the time. He showed my how to airbrush automotive base/clearcoats onto a model. I never got this good though! This is really exceptional, never been polished but flawless. Also, the metallic paint is very fine, the metal particles seem in scale, which is rare. I did the interior with Humbrol but for some reason didn't paint the engine green. bbowser Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Stunning replica. I am blown away by your work Peter and hope to see more.
sjordan2 Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 (edited) Spectacular is too mild a word for this stunning piece of work. I'd love to see what you'd do with the 1/16 classics. Edited September 17, 2013 by sjordan2
Chris White Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 Peter, have you ever built a bad kit, or are they all perfect ?
Greg Wann Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 Wow! I like to think how cool it would have been to be a part of building such grand vehicles from those days. It just amazes me that someone designed such beauty and then brought them to market. Very nice build.
charlie8575 Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 You NEED to stop hiding all your stuff, Peter! This is just great, black engine or not, that's one of the nicest Duesenburgs I've seen built. Someday, I'll have the courage enough to get back to all of my Monogram Classics and get them built. Neil Bass Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 Perfect! It definitely does pay to keep your models in an airtight case!
Nxr Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 that thing makes my muscle cars and full size 60s cars look like junk, that's a truly higher level of model car modeling right there.
peekay Posted September 18, 2013 Author Posted September 18, 2013 Peter, have you ever built a bad kit....If you only knew.....
Burnout Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 That is a beautiful Duesy! I really like the color combo. I have built this kit twice in my lifetime but neither looked this nice.
gtx6970 Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Very nice! Ditto. I've been slowly stashing away all kinds of early 30s kits for later on builds
peekay Posted September 19, 2013 Author Posted September 19, 2013 Thanks everybody, I appreciate your comments.
Harry P. Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Another beauty, Peter! My son and I went to a local auto museum earlier this summer, and they had several vintage Duesenbergs on display. These cars are so impressive in real life. They are huge! The headlights are the size of pizzas!
