Harry P. Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Wow, I guess I'm out of the loop. I thought they discontinued it a long time ago!
Art Anderson Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Wow, I guess I'm out of the loop. I thought they discontinued it a long time ago! The last factory building the Kombi is in Brazil.
slusher Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 l have not seen any VW vans on the road. l didn't know they had any...
Tony T Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Similar style to what was available in North America in the 70s. VW did a lot of interesting building strategies in different parts of the world, including sending bodies or kits to be assembled in some African or South American countries.
Kris Morgan Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 When I was at the Detroit Auto Show a fella at the VW display said there is a retro style Micro Bus in the works.
martinfan5 Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 VW has been making the VW bus for other parts of the world. If you havent heard it was announced today on December 31 2013 Volkswagon will stop the production of the VW van . Source?
Rob Hall Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 (edited) VW has been making the VW bus for other parts of the world. Source? The later Mexico and Brazil T2s had a water cooled engine also...there was a company importing them into the UK recently, I've read. The EOP is mentioned on the Wikipedia page. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswagen_Type_2 Edited September 25, 2013 by Rob Hall

Skydime Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 (edited) I remember recently seeing that as a Yahoo headline but, don't have the URL. I was unaware of the current production as many others. Although, it comes as no surprise considering the Mexican production of the "old school" Beetle just ended a few years ago. I just can't believe Volkswagen would allow continued production outside of the original German quality guidelines. I see complaints everywhere about the quality of the Beetles from Mexico and non German parts. Now, I am not saying people in other countries did a bad job producing the products. I am just saying that my research indicates inferiority of materials used to make them. Edited September 25, 2013 by Skydime

Greg Myers Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Gotta be honest here. This is the first one that came to mind.
Joe Handley Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Well, at least that ine would make for a quick death if something went really wrong.
charlie8575 Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 Wow, I guess I'm out of the loop. I thought they discontinued it a long time ago! I was rather surprised to hear they were still being made, myself. I heard this on the radio Wednesday, I think, and was quite surprised to hear the old Microbus was in production still. In a way, it's sad that they won't be making them anymore. Charlie Larkin
martinfan5 Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 From what my understanding is the the current version of the VW Micro Bus being made was in Brazil, and that is the only country that they were being sold at.
