Old Coyote Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 ..... leaves a lot to be desired ............. I chose an AMT 1940 Ford kit that I had been dragging around for nearly 40 years ............... the molded trim was so light as to cause issues with the bare metal foil (along with my lack of expertise) so there's no trim around the windows .............. oh well, here it is, a box stock 1940 Ford Deluxe sedan with Testor's gray and black paints
TooOld Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 Very nice and a perfect color ! I'm not sure there should be chrome trim around the windows , it was probably just a rubber seal .
Danno Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 (edited) Nice, clean build, John. Don't be so tough on yourself. You've actually pretty much nailed it. There wasn't any chrome trim around the windows other than the center split and the windwing. The kit's engraved welt would represent the black rubber grommet that held the glass in the window openings. Perhaps a little dark wash in the fender louvers alongside the chrome portion of the grille, and you've really got it! Edited September 27, 2013 by Danno
Eshaver Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 One "Could " have bought chrome trim . It was an option . The division bar however was chromed at the factory . The only issue I see is the Red on the engine . Ford never used red on that engine . it should be a Dark Green ............. Now bring that model along with the other recent builds to the T A M S show October 26th in Norfolk Virginia .
peekay Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 Nice looking model. Love that colour, nicely applied too.
Harry P. Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 It's always nice to see a vintage Ford built stock.
Tom Geiger Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 There wasn't any chrome trim around the windows other than the center split and the windwing. The kit's engraved welt would represent the black rubber grommet that held the glass in the window openings. A quick swipe around those windows with a black Sharpie would take care of the situation!
bbowser Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 Nice job John! Don't see many of these factory stock.
slusher Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 Gorgeous build John, perfect color and finish. You are an awsume model builder...
rv1963 Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 Looks good to me, maybe the guy drove the car blew the engine had it rebuilt and they painted it red, the only can of paint they had in the shop.
W-409 Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 Very nice build, as always. Especially the paint job looks very good and you nailed the color on it. Very nice work overall, your builds always impress me.
PappyD340 Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 Very NICE and clean build John, I wouldn't expect anything less from your bench, excellent color choice and paint job, like Danno said don't beat yourself up I think you did an outstanding job!!
TFchronos Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Simple, clean, elegant, it's a stunner, great job on it!
