HondaRacer1124 Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 My first posting in the under glass. Built for my local IPMS club build where it took 1st place. Revell kit with old AMT 289 Cobra engine.
TooOld Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Very cool , love the pipes on top of the carb !
realgone58 Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Awesome! Love the rust holes and the weld lines on the top chop.
Foxer Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 very nicely done ... weathering looks just right and realistic!
PappyD340 Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Top Notch build, love the look, great weathering!!
HondaRacer1124 Posted October 30, 2013 Author Posted October 30, 2013 Thanks every body for the kind words. Means alot coming from you guys!
Route 66 Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Wow! I'm brand new here and I'd love to know how you went about getting the rims and body to look that weathered. I just love rat rods and I didn't know you could achieve that look with a plastic model kit. Is there an area on the forum that can teach me how to do that?
Chuck Most Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Love it! From your screen name, though, I expected to see a VTEC engine in it.

Seek out Dr. Crankys videos on you tube, he is my insperation. Also try and find AK Interactive magazine, its available for download. There is no rules, so your canvas is wide open, I think the replica stock guys have it the hardest. Love it! From your screen name, though, I expected to see a VTEC engine in it. Oh you got me thinking.......
HondaRacer1124 Posted October 30, 2013 Author Posted October 30, 2013 Very cool , love the pipes on top of the carb ! Thank you, I was going for a steampunk look, and wanted to echo a old carival calliope.
Dr. Cranky Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Love it, Eric. Wonderful rust and weathering, and all the great details help the viewer move around the model. What kind of grill mesh is that?
Chuck Most Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Oh you got me thinking....... Do it! You know you want to! I did a rat rod a while back with a Nissan DOHC inline six....
Tory Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Great build Eric, you had my vote! I keep going back and looking at all the details you put in it, the more I look the more I see! Also, you really got the proportions just right on it. No small feat. Tory

HondaRacer1124 Posted November 5, 2013 Author Posted November 5, 2013 Love it, Eric. Wonderful rust and weathering, and all the great details help the viewer move around the model. What kind of grill mesh is that? Thanks for all your help and kind words. So the grill is a earing from about 1990 in my " that's something I sould hang onto bin". Always pays to raid the clearance bins.
