Lovefordgalaxie
Well, I spent the better part of this year without building anything, so I got a little rusty. Like I have a nice stock of AMT '57 Fords, I decided to build one to "unrust" a little Like I'm a little much worry no fun when I build something stock, and I don't want to mess up, I went with a hot rod. Did that because I don't really care much for a non factory stock car, and so I would build it with less worry. That being said, I started with a 1990s vintage AMT Fairlane. Painted it Tamiya orange TS-12. Gave it a light buff, and then applied two coats of automotive two part clear. The clear was then wet sanded and polished to represent a custom paint job. I tried to put the car on the early 1970s, as I really don't like anything about the hot rods I see today, with their huge steal locomotive wheels, and crazy paint jobs, not to mention the tendency to become computers on wheels, that happen to resemble a old car. My Fairlane has 15 inch Cragar wheels and tires are bias ply, just like back in the day. Engine is a 312 Y-Block V8 without anything electronic whatsoever, but with a custom dual quad intake and two Autolite 4100 carburetors on top. Air cleaner is from a AMT 1962 Thunderbird. Also added some traction bars from the AMT 1956 Ford kit, a nice wooden steering wheel from the AMT 1951 Chevy Fleetline kit, and GT mirrors from my parts box. Oh, please forgive the front bumper looking like it's about to fall off, because it was!! When I took the pictures the glue was soft, and it really fell, and it's only barely in place. Now I just fixed that : 1957 Fairlane 500 Club Vicky by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr1957 Fairlane 500 Club Vicky by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr1957 Fairlane 500 Club Vicky by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr1957 Fairlane 500 Club Vicky by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr1957 Fairlane 500 Club Vicky by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr1957 Fairlane 500 Club Vicky by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr1957 Fairlane 500 Club Vicky by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr1957 Fairlane 500 Club Vicky by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr1957 Fairlane 500 Club Vicky by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr1957 Fairlane 500 Club Vicky by Lovefordgalaxie, on Flickr
