The newer promo and kit are GS models. You are correct. My mistake.
Motor City
What's funny is the original 1966 AMT kit indicates it's a GS version of the Riviera, but it's not. A similar situation is the MPC 1972 Impala kit. The box indicates it has the 454 engine, but it's only the 400!
chepp
Here are photos of the AMT/Ertl 1966 Buick Riviera engine in the stock kit 30083 with millimeter rulers so someone can compare it to a real one for scale. Here is a mock-up of the stock chassis and rear axle with kit tires. The kit doesn't have any custom or lowered suspension parts. If I lowered it there would hardly be any travel for the tires in the wheel wells. Does the lowrider kit use smaller diameter tires in addition to the lowered suspension parts? Can-Con
I modified mine , just a little bit. One glaring omission on the engine is a lack of a valley pan under the intake. But if you're using the stock air cleaner is's not too noticeable
chepp
That's a nice custom -- I like the clean, simplified look as well as the expertly applied beautiful color.

I agree. Steve hit that one right out of the park.
