Ramfins59 Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 I finished this one up this afternoon. To recap the WIP thread, this is a Modelhaus resin kit. The colors are Model Master Chrysler Yellow and Tamiya Red Brown. I used Duplicolor Clearcoat and about a quarter mile of BMF to finish it off. I sanded off the shallow, molded wipers and used chrome wipers, mirrors and antenna's from my parts stash. Additions to the interior were sheet plastic visors painted yellow, gas and brake pedals because there weren't any, a piece of a shirt pin for a turn signal stalk, and a resin, dash mounted rear view mirror painted chrome silver. This was a fun project overall, even with the PITA masking job for the second color, and the hours spent on the BMF work. Thanks for looking in on this. All comments, etc., are welcomed as usual. The next one up on the bench is another 50's car that we rarely if ever see worked on. I just LOVE picking unusual and not your run-of-the-mill models to work on.
Rob Hall Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Sharp build..neat car. I want to get this Modelhaus kit and their '57 Dodge 2dr sedan.
Terry Jessee Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Wow--what a Baremetal monster! This is NICE!
Porscheman Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH Rich, That's beautiful. Now I have to start another gluebomb to keep up with you
Ramfins59 Posted December 4, 2013 Author Posted December 4, 2013 Thanks guys. Terry, yes sir, a BMF monster to be sure. Al, I think you're actually ahead of me, but who's counting?
TFchronos Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Beautiful, amazing, stunning and awesome all in one package!
crazyjim Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Looking nice and SHINY :) , Rich. You must spend lots of $$ on BMF.
Ron Hamilton Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Hocus! Pocus! Another beauty from the bench.
PappyD340 Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Another OUTSTANDING build Rich, great color combo, and as usual yor BMF is superb!! I like it!!
the goon Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Way cool. Need to own stock in BMF to build those Mark
realgone58 Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Another beautiful build, Rich! Beautiful foil work, and lot's of it too! Does look to be sitting kind of high however. I need to get one of these. Do the exhaust tips come with the kit?
slusher Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 A gorgeous classic build Rich. Excellent work. They should give you foil miles so you could earn free foil...
Tom Geiger Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Very cool Rich! Another great 50s classic. You must have quite a car show going at this point.
Ramfins59 Posted December 5, 2013 Author Posted December 5, 2013 Thanks a lot everyone. Yeah, fins and chrome... gotta love it. I will have to replenish my BMF supply shortly as I think I may have only 2 sheets left along with some small pieces on a couple of sheets. Alan, you're right about it sitting kind of high, because of the way that the chassis fits onto the flat bottom of the interior. I could have drilled the axle holes a bit higher to make it sit lower but I didn't. You could try doing that when you get your kit. Yes, the exhaust tips are molded onto the rear bumper and I still need to put some flat black in the openings. Carl, that would be a great deal if the BMF people would do it...... say buy 6 sheets and get the next one free. They'd owe me about 6 sheets at this point over the past 20 years.
Danno Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Beautiful model . . . odd color combination but it somehow works.
Joker Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Thanks Rich I'm enjoying your 50's classic car series. From the WIP to the final assembly.
charlie8575 Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 That came out very nicely. I've seen a few cars two-toned in varying shades of brown and yellow. Sometimes...well, I'll let the colors do the talking. But- when the tones and quantities of each color are right, it looks very nice together. This looks good. Charlie Larkin
Ramfins59 Posted December 5, 2013 Author Posted December 5, 2013 Thanks very much everyone, I really appreciate all of your encouraging comments.
