Danno Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Pete's right! It is downright frigid out there today! That cold front is coming through and it's only 55* now. Gotta find some long pants to put on. And maybe some socks.
Tom Geiger Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Speaking of batteries... My wife was leaving for work this morning and my Tracker was behind her in the driveway. Instead of waking me up, she decided to move it herself. As a result, I get a text from her later that it has a dead battery and she had to maneuver around it. So I go outside and there is a huge mess in the snow and grass where she managed to get the Breeze past this. I have a brand new battery in the Tracker so I was interested... I turn the key, and it starts right up. Seems she didn't know she needed to have her foot on the clutch to start it!
Rob Hall Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 My first battery in my Jeep lasted almost 5 years in Colorado IIRC...in AZ I'm lucky to get 18 months to 2 years out of a battery...the vile nuclear heat here kills 'em.

Harry P. Posted January 31, 2014 Author Posted January 31, 2014 One thing's for sure...in July we'll probably be wishing for the weather we're having now!!!! No way. I'll take a hot steamy day over a frigid cold day any time. I can sit out on my deck on the hottest day of the year, sipping a cold beer, relaxing and feeling no pain. If I try that on the coldest day of the year, I'd be dead in an hour.
Tom Geiger Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 If I try that on the coldest day of the year, I'd be dead in an hour. and every summer when it hits 100 they find old folks dead in their apartments in the city!
High octane Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 I just finished clearing the driveway of snow again, and there's more comin' this weekend. I can hardly wait, oh boy, oh joy!!!
Craig Irwin Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 It got up to 26 degrees today but the wind was so strong it felt colder than yesterday.
High octane Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Today (Friday) is the last day of the month of January, and we are making forward progress towards spring, so cheer up!
DrKerry Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 I've got a bottle of Patron. You got the mix? You betcha!!!!
Greg Cullinan Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Looks like a break from the snow for the weekend. Maybe 50 degrees. Try to do some model painting this weekend outside and hopefully all this crude melts away. So we have room for the next storm!
Craig Irwin Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Up to 40 tomorrow, then a downward slide again. Single digit lows and highs in the twentys all next week. Oh, and some kind of winter storm of as yet unknown fury is forecast for Tuesday. Some are saying 12 to 20 inches of shovel ready global warming may be in store for us.
Ace-Garageguy Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 We had 2 to 3 inches of powder on Tuesday. It turned to ice on the roads and crippled the entire metropolitan Atlanta area. Things are almost back to normal this evening, but I passed 2 fresh slid-off-roads this afternoon, and my driveway, on a steep hill, only became passable at 3PM.
Harry P. Posted January 31, 2014 Author Posted January 31, 2014 We're finally out of the deep freeze... it's been in the upper teens and twenties the past few days... but we're supposed to get (depending on which report you want to believe) 6-10 inches tomorrow. That's on top of all the old snow that still hasn't melted because it's been so cold for so long. I see where Atlanta was literally paralyzed by 2 inches of snow the other day. I guess 2 inches in Atlanta equals 20 inches here, but still... total gridlock? Two inches?
Harry P. Posted January 31, 2014 Author Posted January 31, 2014 I also heard that around here, January 2014 had the fourth highest snowfall total of any January since they began keeping records. And February (tomorrow) will be off to a good start... they're predicting 6-10 inches for tomorrow. We sure are getting our share of the "s" word around here.
Craig Irwin Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 We're finally out of the deep freeze..... Check your forecast for next Thursday and Friday.........
Harry P. Posted January 31, 2014 Author Posted January 31, 2014 Check your forecast for next Thursday and Friday......... Yeah... I know. Back to Antarctica.
