Austin T Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 I hope I'm not the only one who noticed that woody in the back.Looks like a Merc, should be A LOT cheaper then any modsquad version you find out there. CEKPETHO BCE Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Does the Merc woody come with a stock body?
Fat Brian Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 I believe it does but as it stands now it will have the Caddy engine from the 49 Mercury custom kit.
1930fordpickup Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 The Woody will have the Caddy engine for all those who were wondering.
Rob Hall Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 (edited) The Woody will have the Caddy engine for all those who were wondering. Saw that...no biggie, the AMT '49 Merc is easy enough to source an engine from. Edited October 10, 2012 by Rob Hall
CEKPETHO BCE Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 I really hope the 49 Merc will come with a separate, all stock coupe body... As much as I like woodies for being something different, I cannot see myself painting all that wood and making it look realistic.
RichCostello Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 Tower Hobbies has a 49 Merc wagon listed as a May 2013 release. Anybody know anything about this?
Rob Hall Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 New release from Revell, based on the '49 Merc custom coupe. It's mentioned in this thread... http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=64737&st=0
Casey Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Here are the pics Steve Goldman took of the '49 Mercury Woodie: Looks like a modified reissue of the Custom Merc ..... no stock engine or trans. The rest looks all Stock
moparfarmer Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 The old Aurora Mod Squad kit with newer Merc underneath...Possible......
Casey Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Does the current Revell '49 Mercury Custom kit include a totally stock chassis and suspension?
Austin T Posted October 17, 2012 Author Posted October 17, 2012 I know this sounds a little wierd, but I dont rember startin this thread.I thought this was posted in the nnl toledo thread?
Casey Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 I know this sounds a little wierd, but I dont rember startin this thread.I thought this was posted in the nnl toledo thread? Some '49 Mercury Woodie-specific posts were moved when this topic was created, so the timestamp of each posts ranks them, even after they've been moved. Your post was the oldest, so it's now the first in this topic.
thatz4u Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 add 09 Mustang wheels, & engine, & surfboards, do an update Mod Squad wagon
GeeBee Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 I will have to get one of these, painting all the wood is going to be tricky job, but worth having a go at it ...
Chuck Most Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Does the current Revell '49 Mercury Custom kit include a totally stock chassis and suspension? No, but it wouldn't be difficult to rework it to stock specs. Namely raise the suspension a couple of scale inches. The present exhaust system could be adapted into a stock version.
Gluhead Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Yeah, this is another "must-have" for me. I don't care what engine or suspension it has. I can't wait to rebuild the wood parts out of real wood.
Duntov Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 Holy Cow!!!!!!! I will never catch up!!! I still have not built the 41 & 48 Ford Woodies I have in my stash now!!!!!
CEKPETHO BCE Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 I'd like it if it was a regular, non woody wagon. Though it's a great subject matter, it does not appeal to me personally because I cannot take wood on the exterior of a car seriously.
Junkman Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Re. that Cadillac engine - the only other game in town is the Mod Squad kit, which now commands prices that would have bought you a real Mercury woody not too long ago, but includes four rather daft looking figurines you can give your daughter for her dolls house. So I see the Revell effort as a clear case of noli equi dentes inspicere donati. And low and behold, I just may find a bloody Flathead in my parts box, or just sod it and use the Caddy mill. They could have included one or two surfboards though...
Craig Irwin Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 I'd like it if it was a regular, non woody wagon. Though it's a great subject matter, it does not appeal to me personally because I cannot take wood on the exterior of a car seriously. All 1:1 1949 Merc wagons were woodies.
Junkman Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 (edited) Would make an interesting phantom though, if you'd smooth it and paint it one colour as if it was all steel. Maybe make it a four door at the same time? With rear suicide doors a'la Lincoln... Edited October 26, 2012 by Junkman
