Interior will be black with seats out of the f&f mustang due to the fact that i had to shave the floor to fit in the 71 body and those seats are shorter.

Awesome stuff Kevin, Bill and Carlos, some fine rides coming together.

Here's the Dart with a primer coat. If all goes well I'll have the base coat on either today or tomorrow.

Progress on the Formula soon to follow.

@JTalmage:

The wheels you are looking for are not included in the Mustang kit. Alt least the older issue that I have does not include the wheels. You can find them in a Deora kit for example.

@All:

With a grown out bronchitis and no reason to leave the house, I was able to focus on the Chevelle without distractions.

What I´ve done:

- removed fender trim

- replacement of the drip rail trim above the side window

- added some panel lines in the headlight area on the fenders

- removed the cowl induction lettering on the hood

- added some PE parts to the hood and trunk

- tinted the rear glass with Tamiya smoke on the inside

- ...a lot of sanding to straighten the body

- body painted with IJN grey and finished with semi-gloss clear, both Tamiya paints from rattle cans

The engine is almost done aswell. Pics will follow in a few hours when I have finished assembly and spark plug wiring. The engine will be the only colorful thing on this rather mono-chromatic looking build.

Some may notice a certain affinity to the Fast&Furious4 movie car, which is no coincidence. This Chevelle will be a nice addition to my movie car collection. And with Dom Toretto at the gas pedal this Chevelle should have a good chance to end up on the podium of the Cannonball Run...

Cheers

Thanks Arno

Well, I have finished the basic work on the engine. The intake manifold was done in a simple manner, I didn´t go wild on detailing it with flanges or bolts. Since the whole Chevelle kit is not much of a detail-fanatics friend, I considered this to be enough. The carb is an aftermarket resin piece, the valve covers are scratchbuilt and I added some etched bowties. In the pics the orange looks kinda faint but it really pops to the eye.

I think the engine should provide enough horsepower for a coast to coast race. Let´s imagine this to be some sort of a crate engine with maybe 550ci and about 800hp...

Parts that are still missing will be added when the engine gets mated to the chassis.

Hi, guys just looking for some opinions on the exhaust, I had planned on using the side exhaust but I'm not sure i like it. I could run the stock exhaust out the back. Any thoughts on this is welcome.IMG_04441_zpsab9e9a1d.jpg

Yeah, Vettes with side pipes is always a win in my book.

Color hints for the Dart, two colors, Black and the second will be a Chrysler color.

Wasn't able to get a base coat on the Dart, weather got bad and has stayed bad. The Formula needs more body work anyway so I'll entertain myself with that for now.

Well I finally was able to reach the member who was sending my parts. Hopefully will have them soon. If that's the case, the General Mayhem will still be in the running.

The side exhaust looks good on this car, just not sure if it would not hinder the car getting in and out of the gas stations while in the race. I wold use the stock out the back ( with bigger pipes) exhaust. Yes I know these are plastic models but they should be a bit low key for a cannonball race .You do not want to draw attention to yourself.

Monthly update i thought. I am just in holiday an have done all work before.

I painted the interieur

CIMG140907_009.jpg

after a lot of sanding the body, it became his classic color - "Hellelfenbein":

Next was the handpainted racestripes in blue, some decals...

CIMG140907_013.jpg

...and i but all together. Engine, chassis, interieur, chassis...

CIMG140907_026.jpg

...also the wheels get some paint...

CIMG140907_028.jpg

...and the last was to complete all the small stuff on the body. Lights, wheel, handmade and chromed rollbars, mirrors.

a look to the interieur:

and a short look to the finished car:

Looks good Dom just curious is there any ideas for next years build

No idea yet. The theme changes year to year. It also depends on who's running it. That also changes quite often. Nick has been pretty busy with life so we'll have to wait and see. Stay tuned.
