Tom Geiger Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 I have a 20 year old Subaru with the black bmf and it's fine. First time through the car wash... gone!
scalenut Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 are you guys referring to the chrome black ? ( I just ordered some ... please tell me it's different)
Harry P. Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 are you guys referring to the chrome black ? ( I just ordered some ... please tell me it's different) Chrome black, black chrome, that's the stuff. BAD stuff.
slusher Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 I Tried it and the black rubs off so l stoped using it better resuls with regular foil and black sharpie..
Foxer Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 This stuff is weird ... everyone has trouble with it but all the black trim in the photos above .... window and side trim ... is black BMF. It didn't stick as well I know, but it's stayed all these years. What did I do wrong?
Deathgoblin Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 It depends on what you're using it for. I used some on my Monogram Lamborghini Countach for the side windows and it came out awesome. I covered the whole part with a piece of the foil, then trimmed out the windows from the "frame".
kap64 Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 I use regular bare metal foil and spray it the colors I need. The yellow stripes on this car are made from chrome foil airbrushed with Testors yellow.
Matt Bacon Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Has anyone used this stuff? How black is it? Does it have a metallic sheen, or is it appropriate for the black anodised/painted trim on '80s/90s cars? bestest, M.
cobraman Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 It is a shiny black but I remember it being kind of thick and not that good to work with.
StevenGuthmiller Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 I've used it a few times & to me it always just looked black. The problem is, it's still "silver" foil underneath, so when you cut it there is a bright edge along every cut side. Plus if you rub it too hard, the black finish will come off. Solvents will also remove the finish, just like the gold foil. Steve
Intmd8r Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 I recently bought some to try it out. Must say, not all that impressed with it. The rest of the BMF line is great. Thought it would look like "smoked" Chrome or gunmetal like finish, but it looks gloss black to me.
Chuck Most Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Best way to use it is to avoid it in the first place. Doesn't stick, easily scratched, and just looks like gloss black paint once applied.
