Matt T. Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 "ASUKA MODELS (Formerly TASCA MODELLISMO) is pleased to announce its' new kit of the American Bantam Recon Car (AS 24-005) in 1:24 scale." This is the early, wire slat-grilled Jeep, prior to Willys getting the contract. Should retail around $40.00.
gasman Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 This is a must buy for me, Bantams where built not that far away from me in Butler PA
Joe Handley Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Very nice looking, didn't realize Bantam was still around to be licensed through.
Luc Janssens Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 It LOOKS like a very well detailed kit Indeed, yesterday at my dad's I was going thru his new purchases, a Merit M19 tank transporter and a Mirror Models Diamond T969 Wrecker, the level of detail is just fantastic...now if only they would release them in 1/24 scale too...that would be freaking awesome
GeeBee Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 I need to get one of these as I've been asked to build one for a military model magazine, looks a cracking model
Brett Barrow Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Asuka/Tasca's kits are fabulous, I have a couple. This should be spectacular.
Art Anderson Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Very nice looking, didn't realize Bantam was still around to be licensed through. I looked that up: There is a guy in Juneau AK who makes all manner of enameled jewelry pins--and produced the Bantam Logo in miniature as part of his line. Supposedly he has trademark rights to the logo (although if he no longer makes any product using it, within a fairly short time the trademark becomes public domain again. Art
Matt T. Posted December 17, 2014 Author Posted December 17, 2014 Anybody build one of these yet? Any in-box review photos? (Not that I'm asking you to produce them, maybe you already have them.) Thanks.
Atmobil Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Here is atleast some photos of the parts and instructions. http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/image/10255299p/10/1
Matt T. Posted December 18, 2014 Author Posted December 18, 2014 Thanks Gaute. Yeah, I did an image search yesterday and now my Bantam is on its way from Japan. Looks like a great kit!

GeeBee Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 I've had one of these since they were available, still need to get round to building it for a magazine article ....
Matt T. Posted February 17, 2015 Author Posted February 17, 2015 I've begun working on this and, if the engine/transfer case assembly is any indication, this is a superb kit! Fine molding, great details, tiny sprue attachment points & well engineered. Nice!
lysleder Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 WOW, now I've seen that too. According to the instructions, it looks as if the oil pan flanges (with boltheads) are two separate pieces. Can anybody who has the kit in hand please confirm?
