DumpyDan Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Hello fellow modeller's , this my latest build it is a 1919 Olds fruit truck. The idea for this build came from a calendar photo, needless to say they are going to have to deal without June this year. I started with the Beverly Hillbillies Truck, well a few parts, the frame, motor, wheels, grill, hood and a few other odds and ends from the kit. I scratch build the body from styrene, I even made the baskets from paper towel (white glue, water, craft paint), fruit is made from foam balls I painted. Made the scale hanging from the ceiling and a sandwich board even made the canopy's from paper towel. I started this little project only 4 weeks ago, I had such a good time building this one, thanks for looking. ENJOY!
Ridge Rider Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Nice job, it looks just like "June". Thanks for sharing.
slusher Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Very creative build and very realistic. Excellent
mnwildpunk Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 So you just soak the paper towel in a water glue mixture then put it around a form and let it dry for the canopy?
DumpyDan Posted February 21, 2014 Author Posted February 21, 2014 Not even soak, just put it in and take it out, put into the shape you want, let dry over night on clear food wrap.
Sixties Sam Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Very cool! Nice work on the body, and the fruit looks real! Sam
Silver Foxx Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 A real nice looking build , lots of great detail built into it .
Tom Geiger Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Very cool and nice. If the board had a "Model of the Day" this would be it! Most folks didn't see potential in the BH kit, but it's an excellent light commercial base. Ken Kitchen built a couple of varieties from it.
vintagercr Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 I've seen this in person and it is Beautuful!
peter31a Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Beautiful build, Dan! Great use of the BH kit.
