Okay guys, though I find myself in the middle of a current project, I would like your input on this. It's for my future Tamiya Mini Cooper build. I have taken a little moment this morning to shoot a few coats of paint on plastic spoons, I just want to have an idea how these colors look on a surface instead of inside of the bottle. Notice that I have shot the images outside under a shadow and also under direct sunlight, I want you to see the true colors of the hues chosen. I also placed the rims I will be using right between the colors, don't know if it will help on the final decision but it's worth a shot. These are 1/32 scale metal with P/E centers and they look great, they are the ones used for slot cars but I thought they would work perfect on this car.
I will be posting this info here and on the various FB model car groups and later I will tally all the scores to finally decide on the color, I want to make this fun but I also want to have the perfect color on this thing. Keep in mind that the top will be white, perhaps even Pearl White depending on the final choice of color. Also, there are only two coats of paint on each spoon, I am sure I will probably finish applying at least four coats for complete coverage but this gives me a good starting idea. I think the clear will also help put everything together at the end but for now, this is what I have. This is our project so please, let me know which color you think I should use for this thing!

If you're going to do a rally version, red with a white top (and Minilite wheels) would be the typical way to go.

No Rally version, just street type little tuner.....

I hate the wheels. Having been twice a Mini owner they are a sacrilege! As to the color...any will do for a street car. Just no flames, please.

Patrick, the wheels are the only reason I am putting this one together...:lol:

You will find that those wheels will not fit once you put in the suspension, brakes, etc. Typcal front drive cars can not run wheels offset like that unless you want to go really wide! Soem Mini racers run the wheels ouside of the body lines and have monstous flares to cover them.

I know my friend, I will be modifying it a bit, it's just for fun......

Suggest taking a look at either MiniWorld. http://www.miniworld.co.uk/magazine or Mini http://www.minimag.co.uk magazines websites. You will find that the wheel type you are thinking about running isn't plausible. They would cause suspension failure in short order.

Now if you are building a "Tuner" type Mini, a Honda VTec can and does fit into a Mini with significant modifications. Search VTec Mini. The Sportspack wheel arches are normally run with this set up, a 13 inch Alloy wheel is the fitment of choice normally in one of the Mini Lite variations. That would even be on the "Wild" Custom Mini. There are arches which may cover a wheel such as you are proposing, they take away from the Mini's character, search Huffaker Mini, they take up the complete quarters front and rear. They are normally not found on a streetable Mini.

I've seen all sorts of things done with Mini's over the dozen years I've owned a Classic Mini, what you are proposing for wheel fitment isn't done, it would require nearly a whole uprated front suspension, lots of body and structural modifications to work, well beyond Tuner modifications. Then again it's your model...

Id Build like the Borne Idenity Car was it Orange?.....It would also be Stun'n Indigo Blue with a Cream Top....I would do a Foose Fade on lower body. After you shoot the Indigo, Mist on some Black "n" Blue Pearl, aim low for the "Rocker" area go lite....this works best if its subtle.....Takes away from the "Boxy'ness" of a short wheel base "Opticle Illushion".

It would look great in any of those colours. The Mini lends itself to green very well, though.

The wheels are kinda oversized, but at least they're not 24" dubs... The wire spoked wheel looks great on classic British cars.
