tubbs Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 hey Paul, great job all round. nice attention to detail. I like how you make each component a build all itself. the grille came out great. I go to a craft store and get the little bug eyes that you see on stuffed animals and such, cut the backing off and you are left with a dome shape, I use that as the backing for the head light and use parts box lenses (as you did) and you get a much more realistic headlight. again, great job. I stole.... er took.... am using a lot of your ideas on some of my builds if you don't mind.
tbill Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 wow, everything looks great! that grille/lights are incredible looking, well done!
Speedpro Posted July 1, 2014 Author Posted July 1, 2014 Thanks so much for all the comments. I must say, when I started building this model, my intension was to build a quick, simple model and not get too carried away. Ya right! I always seem to have to make changes on certain areas of my cars. And this one seems to be no exception. This is taking a lot more time than I ever thought it would and it's hard to put in the time I want to behind the bench right now. I guess what I'm saying is thanks for following along and posting your comments. I'll get this thing done but just slow going at the moment. hey Paul, great job all round. nice attention to detail. Thanks tubbs Paul Hey Paul, thanks for the compliments. just trying to help out. thanks for being so receptive to my suggestions' coach a few sport and I always tell them, I can only suggest. you guys are doing the work. same here, and like people before me, you are taking one crappy kit and making it into a real eye catcher!!! using your ideas are 1 thing, executing them to the level you have is another story...... watching this till the end.
crowe-t Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 (edited) Paul, This is a fantastic build so far! You are taking a not so good kit and turning it into something wonderful. I love the work you've done on the interior. The dash is creative and fits the rest of the build. I really like the use of the body color throughout. It just ties everything together nicely. This is what Pro Street cars are all about. Mike. Edited August 29, 2014 by crowe-t
Speedpro Posted September 22, 2014 Author Posted September 22, 2014 Things have finally slowed down a bit and with summer coming to a close I have been able to get some time behind the bench. It sure is fun picking up where you left off after 2 months. If anything it gave me time to figure a few things out. When I left off, I was working fitting the shifter to the console. The position of the shifter was off from where I wanted it. The console top had already been painted and foiled so the bare metal and paint was removed . A separate console top plate was made to fit into the console. Doing this allowed me to locate the shifter where ever I wanted and covered the holes I didn't want. As can be seen in the last picture, Something needs to be done with the floor. The only color I have that would look any good on the floor is embossing powder. But before applying the powder, Bmf was used on the chrome trim at the base of the console. Afterward, I carefully brushed on MM flat clear acryl. Once the clear was in the area I wanted, I just poured the powder right out of the jar onto that area and waiting about 2 min and just tapped it out onto a napkin. Then went on to the next area. Here's a picture of what it looks like with one coat..... And this is after three coats. In this photo, The front floor has been top coated with the flat clear to seal it so loose pieces won't haunt me later.... Also worked on the front seats getting them painted and also painting the headrests and mounting them to the seats. I used the existing seat belts covering them with ribbon and bmf. The console top was covered with bmf an glued to the console........... Thanks for looking, More to come............... Paul
MoparWoman Jamie Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 I love it man, your doing one great job so far.
slusher Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Glad to see you back working on this cool project...
tubbs Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 nice to see you back on this build Paul. seems like you hit third and are racing for home on this one.
Speedpro Posted September 23, 2014 Author Posted September 23, 2014 Thanks for the comments and following along. I'm looking forward to finishing this project. I do have another update, kind of part 2 of my last post. Tubbs......Your right! Seems like I hit third...Not sure though....Still grinding its way in.....When the noise stops it should be in third(I hope) On the console top, I figured where the shifter will go and drilled the hole and added a couple notches. It was primed and painted body color and cleared. It was glued in and the shifter mounted. The passenger seat was put in also.... Then the rollcage was put in for the final time.............. And here's with the dash just mocked up. The steering column still needs to go in and that's in the works. That's it for now, More to come............... Paul
tubbs Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 nice job on that interior. honestly, was second guessing your gauge placement thru the dash, I was wrong, came out looking good. lots of great touches in there. (would have been neat to see a cup holder somewhere on that console)

W-409 Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Excellent work in every way Paul! Your modifications are looking great, and this not so good kit is turning into a super nice buildup. I'm especially impressed by that engine bay, I have the Charger Daytona version of this kit on my bench now and I've been planning on doing the same thing. Great work all in all, this is a great inspiration for sure.
