What's up everybody? Newbie to the forum here and almost feel like a newbie to scale building as this is the first kit I've messed with in probably 15 years, lol. I decided to get back into and just started with an out of the box kit just to get back into the feel of things. Tips, tricks and criticism, fire away, I'm open to all. Thanks for looking!

That's a very good model for just jumping back in the waters. The paint is smooth, no runs or orange peel. The build looks pretty clean, no glue marks or foggy lenses. Well done.

My only suggestion is to pay more attention to removing mold lines (see the master cyclinder) and try out some Bare Metal Foil.

For mold lines I recommend some sanding sticks from the nail care area of your local beauty supply store and order the foil direct from Bare Metal Foil, easily found with a Google search.

Welcome back to the hobby.

I agree with Rob. Painting everything body color (door handles, window trim, wipers, scripts and emblems, etc.) gives a very "toy like" appearance. Foiling those items will make your model look a lot more like a scale replica. But it looks like you have your painting down cold... it looks very good.

Thanks for the kind words guys, I really appreciate it.

Yeah, the master cylinder bugs me every time I look at it. I'm thinking about trying to get it back off and fixing it.

I've never attempted to use Bare Metal Foil. How much of a pain is it to use?

I definitely want to get into more of the engine detailing and such. I don't know that I'll ever be able to reach the skill level of some of the builds on here. But I still think I can do better.

BMF is easy to get used to.

The best thing is if you don't get it right the first time you can peel it off and try again!!

Check out the tips and tricks section here LOT's of good stuff there.

Nicely done and welcome back :D

There is a learning curve with bare metal foil. It's not too steep though. Once you have the hang of it, it's fine, but my first time was on a Johan '60 Desoto Adventurer and it was less than successful. Like anything practice. Some q-tips, a few toothpicks (tips sanded smooth) and a brand new x-acto blade are your best tools.

I think you can find tutorials for BMF on YouTube also.

It definitely takes some practice, but the basic process is something that pretty much any modeler can handle. You can do it. All it takes is a bit of practice. And once you get the hang of it, I guarantee you'll never build another model without it.

Looking at your photos, I can see that you already have more than enough skill to master foiling. Try it... you'll like it.

One thing about Bare-Metal foil...you'll never know how much of a pain it is to you until you do it, and opinions don't count.

Overall a very NICE model, but I will agree you definetly need to get you some BMF, yes it will take you a little practice to get the hang of it and like Skip said it really is a pain in the butt sometimes but the outcome is well worth it! just remember plenty of patience!! ;)

hi james, looks great....what did you paint the body with.....a.c.

Just the small can of spray paint by Testors, I believe was the brand. Not sure of the exact name of the color off hand, but I can find out if you need it.

Thanks again everybody. Looks like I'll be ordering some foil and giving it a shot, lol. I'll probably try it on a spare piece or two just try see how it works. I'll post updates if it turns out decent.

Great job on your build, I also am new to this and just foiled my first car only my second build and it was not to bad just take your time and be easy with the blade. Mine isn't perfect but it sure made the car look a lot better.
