JC, would that be a picture taken at the old Nurburg Ring? F1 cars in the guise of WRC cars. Can't imagine the punishment on both driver and car. Will be tuned in this weekend. Now that Webber is gone, no reason to cheer for RBR. :P

After watching FP1 and FP2, I am wondering about the durability of the cars. Something might happen that hasn't occurred since the sixties- fewer finishers than there are points paying positions.

Ahh...the good old days.

It will be interesting to see if they get a hold of the "new rule package" and how many of them who will finish the race on Sunday.

I was really surprise by the sound of the cars. I had heard some very early audio the engine manufacturers had released months back. But still wasn't expecting the sort of low rumble of the "power units". Restricting them to 15,000 RPM doesn't help either.

I was also surprised, even a 358 (5.86 litre) NASCAR V8 at 9.200 rpm sounds like it revs more, so I expected a higher pitch sound from the small 1.6 litre V6 at 15.000 rpm.

The sound of the new cars will take some getting used to,they sound weird. The Ferraris sound better than all the others, they still have that distinctive Ferrari sound. I still will miss the scream of the V8's and the older V10's.

Not digging this race's TV schedule, though -- starts at 1:30 am Eastern on Sunday morning, with the rebroadcast at 6:30 am. Unfortunately, I don't have a DVR.

The time for the race isn't much to do about as it's in Australia, but the rerun could be at a better time.

It's not that bad for us, the race is at 6:30 am and the channel they show it on over here reruns the entire race at 2:00 pm and 9:30 pm.

The good news is that my wife can now stand to watch the racing 'cos the cars sound so much better! Neither of us were fans of the sound of last year's cars. I like the way this years cars seem to handle, too.
