1 bad55 stan Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Here is a 59 pontiac that i built for a friend, its a replica of his daughters 1.1 car.I don't know for sure who made this model but its old.First thing was to dismantle it,it has a screw underside,Some one had glued everything. Then it sat in the bath for over six months,This is how it came out... It had been brush painted several times.
1 bad55 stan Posted April 1, 2014 Author Posted April 1, 2014 I used tamiya candy lime,an silver..With a few coats of clear..
PappyD340 Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 WOW what a transformation Stan, looks Fantastic I like the colors!!
Lovefordgalaxie Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Looks good. Don't care about the wheels, but the workmanship is great. Tried to foil the bumpers?

1 bad55 stan Posted April 1, 2014 Author Posted April 1, 2014 Hey Stan, I can't view any of your pics!?! Sorry Bruce,I have know idea why... Looks good. Don't care about the wheels, but the workmanship is great. Tried to foil the bumpers? I don't like them wheels either,I have tried to foil the bumpers with no luck. Thanks for your comments though..
Lovefordgalaxie Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Sorry Bruce,I have know idea why... I don't like them wheels either,I have tried to foil the bumpers with no luck. Thanks for your comments though.. Sorry about that. I like it better painted silver than painted with alclad. Alclad is a "fancy" fake chrome, at least silver is more honest By the way, I bought a bottle of Alclad and also a bottle of their enamel black base. It looks like a very bright chrome paint, and that's it. Had better results with Abbro Chrome spray paint, for about 1/4 the price.
Sixties Sam Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Great save of an old kit! The paint really pops! Good work! Sam
Ramfins59 Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 That looks good Stan. I'm looking to get one of these for my 50's car builds.... trying on EBAY but worst case I'll wind up getting one from Modelhaus. BTW, Modelhaus has replacement bumpers & grille for this car.
horsepower Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Way back when it was a current annual, I had one of these & it was a AMT kit. Mine was brush painted too, a very light blue to match a friends car, but you have to forgive me for that, after all I was only 9 years old & it was the first kit I built by myself. You made a nice car, I'm in a minority, as I like the wheels.
slusher Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Beautiful paint and color. You do some nice work Stan...
Tom Geiger Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Looks good! A lot of old built ups have multiple layers of paint. I have a 1962 Buick convertible that's burgundy, but there are both red and green coats under that. I remember being a kid and having limited resources as well as limited kit availability so I'd rebuild models over and over until I wore them out!
1 bad55 stan Posted April 1, 2014 Author Posted April 1, 2014 Thanks everyone for all your comments,I really like these old kits that need a rebuild...
