Ace-Garageguy Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 (edited) Man, you do nice work! This is some of the finest scratchbuilding I've seen in smaller scales. Outstanding, and a real inspiration to watch your progress. Edited April 17, 2014 by Ace-Garageguy
Jeremy Jon Posted April 20, 2014 Author Posted April 20, 2014 Thanks Bill - I'm glad to do so, as you can tell, I really enjoy the construction of these models from scratch, even over painting & detailing a build version! Thanks Kerry & Michael!!
Jeremy Jon Posted April 21, 2014 Author Posted April 21, 2014 (edited) I decided to to build an AMC engine from scratch, started with a generic V8 block & heads, which have no detailing what-so-ever, and will highly modify Adding detailing of the OEM castings, and scratch building other components, like oil pan Unique bellhousing, with ribbing, constructed, starter attached, and primer coated AMC specific intake (dual plane) manifold being constructed, to properly replicate production part, including noticable offset between cylinder banks Intake manifold complete, and cylinder head casting details added, including indents for spark plug wires to attach, and bolt head detail Edited April 22, 2014 by Jeremy Jon
Jeremy Jon Posted April 22, 2014 Author Posted April 22, 2014 Thanks Michael !! Continued work on engine cover
Jeremy Jon Posted April 22, 2014 Author Posted April 22, 2014 Major engine components completed; block, intake manifold, cylinder head, oil pan, each in primer coat Stationary fitment of parts together, next is front accessories construction & cast second cylinder head + carburator Started fabrication of the bespoke transaxle, test fitment to bellhousing, using a donor & highly modified transaxle Near completion of transaxle, including rear case cover and bolt head detail
afx Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Hey I recognize that transaxle. It looks way better now. Excellent work Jeremy.
Jeremy Jon Posted April 23, 2014 Author Posted April 23, 2014 Thanks JC !! yes, chopped and channeled and slightly de-ribbed 914-6 transaxle for donor!
Jeremy Jon Posted April 24, 2014 Author Posted April 24, 2014 (edited) A couple-three pics before the weekend! All major drive train components completed, test fitted and hard primer coated, ready for casting! Construction of ancillary components, timing cover, water pump housing & pulley, crank pulley & damper, and distributor with vacuum advance housing Test fitment of ancillary components together, as they will look on assembled engine ...a few small details, like bolt heads & oil filter extension, and these will be complete!
