crazyjim Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 I started out trying to build a Volksrod but it somehow morphed into a Volksrodbajabug. I probably should have left the engine cover alone instead of cutting it up. Anyway, it's painted in HOK sunset pearl.
rmvw guy Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 It looks like the perfect Volksrod except they usually have an extended front beam. I like it. At least it didn't cost the price it would on a real one. I have changed directions on my 1:1 so many times my garage looks like a parts store for VWs.
crazyjim Posted April 2, 2014 Author Posted April 2, 2014 Thanks guys. Need more Bug parts, Ron? I have a pair of plastic/vinyl heater box hoses, EMPI valve covers, and a round air filter. Probably going to be more as I get more done on my Baja Bug. I got the brakes done (disc up front), new chrome fan shroud, alternator, degree pully, headers, and some chrome tin work off the engine. Next is the trans and then maybe I can start on the interior.
TooOld Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Very cool ! I like the look of these , gonna have to try one along with another dune buggy .
crazyjim Posted April 2, 2014 Author Posted April 2, 2014 Thank you all for the positive comments. I have another Bug convertible kit and the next one will be hugging the ground.
realgone58 Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Looks wild Jim! I like it with the engine cover cut down. Great color for it too.
PappyD340 Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Really COOL Jim, perfect color and it's kinda funny but there was a guy that went to the same High School as me that drove one that looked almost identical to yours same color had different wheels though and the interior is very similar, but anyway looks great!!
crazyjim Posted April 3, 2014 Author Posted April 3, 2014 Thanks fellas. Yes Jason. USMC Vietnam 1969-70.
Dale W. Verts Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Hey Jim- any engine detail-pics? I'm still goin' crazy wanting to build nice bug motors. Really neat car, too. Dale
