Posting this for a friend of mine who's not on this forum. He started this car probably 10 years ago, and it wasnt the actual "Christine" kit, but he wanted to make it one, and so with some parts air cleaners I had, that dont exactly match the movie, he made it work. Better than the single carb it had. So, halfway thru, he moved out of his moms house, in to his grandmas house, then moved out, had a kid, then another one, and so his safe haven away from chaos is his basement, where he and I do our building. Long story short, he finally finished it. I made some movie-accurate license plates for it as well.

Sorry for the slightly dark pics, from my cell phone, but here they are:

That is a very pretty car!! I watched the movie Christine just once and it hurt too much seeing plymouth after Plymouth destroyed. But I really appreciate the lines of these cars. A friendof mine had a black belvedere hardtop... Wasit sharp!!!

Nice build and it's nice to see your friends workmanship.

Nice build!

I saw one of these in a forum post, somewhere, and the guy who built it used fibre-optics from a miniature christmas tree, to illuminate the grille, dash and underside of the car. He put the battery box in the trunk.

Btw..a lot of the wrecked cars in the movie were vacuum formed panels filmed in reverse, so it looked like the panels were rebuilding themselves. It was horrible seeing whole cars smashed to bits though. That was a real horror movie!!

Has anyone who has built the AMT kit had problem attaching frame to floor pan? Up to this point it's been a breeze.

A few fun facts about the movie Christine. The car in the movie was billed as a Fury. The '58 Fury came only in Buckskin Beige with plenty of gold trim. I would imagine it would have been possible to order one in red but even then, the interior was unique also. Not that many true '58 Plymouths were destroyed in the making of the film. Only a couple were used for "Beauty Shots" & I believe they survived. The wrecked cars were mostly basket cases to start with & were comprised of '57 & 58 parts & were used over & over again for different scenes. Some had no interiors, thus the blacked out windows. Many of the trim pieces for the bodies were cast in plastic & rubber & painted to give the cars the "Fury" look. The last I heard, all of the "movie wrecks" went to one salvage yard where, as you can imagine, they've all long been picked over for any useable parts. Nice job on the Plymouth Jesse! Steve

Didn't one of the stunt cars survive too Steven? I Seem to remember seeing an article or something about some guy who found a well worn red '57 Plymouth that looked a whole lot like the movie cars and had deep tinted windows, gutted interiors, roll bar, racing seat, ect and not only bought it, but has saved it and I believe still owns it.

I'm sure you're right Billy. I know several cars from the movie were salvaged and restored. I vaguely remember seeing photos of one of the stunt cars that had been saved some where too. Steve
