Guest Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Check the truck review section Tom. It has all the info you need on the new reissue. I think it's just a few parts and wheel covers that were missing from the original issue.
62rebel Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 nothing added but the six-spoke wheel covers and deletion of the Goodyear wide oval tires. same kit as always. great kit, just nothing remarkable. better decals than the "Loss Arc Welding" stuff from the blue truck era. fuss has been made that the tampo-printed tires will only work with the stock rims; not entirely true. by careful modification of the wheel backs to the moon capped chrome reverse wheels, they can be properly narrowed.
Mr Stock Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 As far as I know Tom the only new parts are the retooled "custom" wheel trims that came in the original trophy issue, also the decal sheet is a copy of the original, apart from that its the same kit, I have two of the version you have above, I love them great old kits. Check out the photos here of the newer issues contents http://www.modelcarbuildermag.com/53ford.html
peter31a Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 I don't know about anyone else but the retooled wheel covers in my kit looks like they were dipped in sand before being chromed. Bummer....
62rebel Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 yeah, i'm not overly impressed with them, either. if they could restore the torq-thrusts to it, that'd be nice. i like the moons, though. it would be nice if they attended to the growing flash issues with it, too; otherwise, i love the kit. always builds up nice. 1
stavanzer Posted April 23, 2022 Posted April 23, 2022 Now, That is a home Run. Just the trailer alone will sell kits! Combined with the Mod Stock Kits, that have been released lately, this will be a surefire hit!
Casey Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 AMT 1505, 1953 Baja Patrol Ford Pickup Crew Truck coming in 2025: 1 1
stavanzer Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 Man, Round2 is getting a whole lot of use out that tool! Nevertheless, I'll think hard about getting one in that boxing.
Tom Geiger Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 One of my favorite kits! I already have a few dozen in my stash. When I see one of these, or the Revell 1950 Ford pickup, cheap at a show I always grab it. Then I did an inventory and found I had more than a case of each! So I took all the unsealed ones and dumped them into parts bins... one bin for each truck. Now I can build to my heart's content and if I mess up a part, I just grab another from the bin. 2
Tom Geiger Posted January 19 Posted January 19 This thread just popped up in my feed again! I read that the Ford chassis was unchanged to very similar right up to the early 1960s. I have been sizing one up, along with the step side short box, under the new AMT 1960 Ford pickup body. It seems to fit well.... has anyone tried this yet? 1

Ragtop Man Posted February 5 Posted February 5 And by extrapolation, if it is more or less fitting this kit... would not be rocket surgery to drop the '60 cab on the MPC Flipnose chassis. Would want to swap the mill to a 427 Ford from one of the recent Atlantis adventures, and improve the rolling stock. Still, possiblities abound. 2
mk11 Posted February 5 Posted February 5 That idea hit me too, also a possibility with the unibody cab (with modified doors) or a corrected moeb cab.

Agree - I need to get schooled up on the Effie cabs from that era, had no idea there were separate doors, or the "Wrong Bed" models. Guess those interwebs is good for something!
Ragtop Man Posted February 11 Posted February 11 And hasn't someone slammed a '60 on to the Foose chassis already? That would be ultra sweet... then add in all the grille changes...

The Foose wheelbase was lengthened by moving the front wheels forward. I do not think correcting it would be to difficult tho. I do not have the Foose kit to compare but know some of the modifications to the 1:1
Ragtop Man Posted February 25 Posted February 25 Most 1:1 Effies get a wheelbase adjustment, I'm not sure why Ford was putting the fronts so far back in the bucket. Wouldn't hurt any of the kits out that I can see.
