So, who sells 1/25 scale sheets of diamond plate???? :)

Plastruct does and I'm not sure about Evergreen. It comes in different scales too.

Plastruct has diamond plate, but don't go by the scale that's marked on the packace, if you buy the 1:24-1:25 scale the pattern is a lot too big, the HO 1:100th scale pattern looks more right.

The bass boat trailers have a pretty large area of diamond plate decking if it can't be found elsewhere....

Is it there yet? ^_^

Yes ; received it on Friday at 1420 HRS .

My critique :

Over-all , it's a beauty . In spite of the moulds' age , flash and distortion is minimal-at-worst .

Chrome plating is excellent .

Decal sheet is *nice* .

The retooling of the original's custom wheel covers is a very nice touch !

Tyres are very nicely done ; period-correct whitewall on one side ; well-detailled blackwall on opposite side .

My only prima fascia "complaint" ?

The optional chromed-reverse wheels are --as the directs point out-- unusuable with the kit's stock-ish skinny Firestones . This also means that any wheel deeper than the stock steelie / hub caps , or stock steelie / custom wheel covers won't fit .

The 70's and 80's issues of this kit had two sets of tyres ; the old standby Firestones , and optional F70-15 Good-Year Polyglas GT's . In my opinion , these tyres should have been included in this issue.

9.9 points out of 10 !

Those are the ones , Casey .

Very nice tyres ; the blackwall side has the classic Firestone inscriptions .

Pharoah , I also found it to be peculiar that no additional tyres were provided . I'm not sure what Round2 has in their roster that would fit the bill in-so-far-as keeping with the vintage c.1962 theme ...

One thing about keeping it 'vintage'.

The 1962 version didn't have the chrome reverse wheels,so they didn't need the wide tires.

Somebody dropped the ball on that. Otherwise ,a really nice kit.

Are we talking about the same chrome reverse wheels with the baby moons???

The '34 Ford street rod kit has those same wheels that are a little wider..

They might be. I'm not familiar with the 34 Ford kit. Those wheels were used in other kit's too,but they weren't around in 1962 when the pickup came out. I don't know if they were going for a 'total retro' kit or what. But they should have put the custom tires in there, too. it's not like I have a bunch of those tires laying around...Oh,I guess I do. LOL

The AMT '49 Mercury has a set of chromed steel wheels with integrally molded baby moons, too, but here are the chrome sprues from the '53 Ford from the same 'site linked above:

This kit may not have had the baby Moons initially either- up until the Crusin' USA issue it had five-spoke American Mags in place of the Moons. The 1985 reissue still had those wheels, and so did the Diamond in The Rough version, which came out a year later.

The next reissue (1994) had the chrome steelie/Baby Moon setup, along with separate inner wheel halves to match.

The reissue from a few years back (which included the tandem car hauler trailer) showed the five spokes on the box but contained the baby Moons.

Got my hands on one of these '53.First thing I did was redo the funky looking windshield top by raising it up a sconch.

Santa left one of these under the tree this year. My first impression is very good. Minimal flash, great chrome. All the custom goodies are great.

Not sure of my plans for it, but I'm looking forward to it.

I'm sure I've said it before. But, I'm going to say it again. This is one of the all time great kits. I've built several over the years. And I plan on building at least one more, a custom, in the future. If you don't own one, you should. It goes together nicely. And comes with so many building options and parts that can be used on other builds.

Can anyone who has this reissue tell me which year(s) are on the black, dark red, and yellow license plates, and which state's plates they are?

Yellow plate is Nebraska, the off-white plate is "A.M.T", and the black plate is Michigan. The two "sideways" plate at the lower right are Missouri (red) and Nevada (yellow). All plates on the sheet are dated 1953.
