ChrisR Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 What a great build! Didn't think the "Revell" kit could look this good.
PatW Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Superb build afx. I've had a few fit problems with mine but it's my favourite real car, having had a number of Beetles over the years.
cruz Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 And thanks to JC and Historic Racing Miniatures, we will soon have a nice resin replica!!! It's still in the works....
Plastheniker Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Great job on (as far as I remember) a mediocre kit!
Zarana-X Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Very nice. I know firsthand of this kit's shortcomings, but lack your level of skill and dedication to accomplish such a marvelous result.
Jeff Johnston Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 (edited) That is Awesome. I'm actually building the exact same kit in almost the same color. I painted mine Grabber Orange which is very similar to that. That;s just a very nicely built model ! Edit: So I went and checked out the in progress pics. Man you really nailed it. You can't appreciate all the work you put into this with just the computed pics. This is easily the most interesting build I've read in a long time. Just outstanding... doggie427 Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Beautiful work on a very cranky kit. Awesome level of work and research to build a beautiful Porsche !! Well done JC .
afx Posted June 22, 2014 Author Posted June 22, 2014 Thanks for all the comments gentlemen. It's difficult to get a good picture of the engine on the completed build so I have added an engine shot from the progress photos.

The 914 looks great is "Signal Orange". Good luck with your build, I hope you post pictures.
Kennyboy Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Such an amazingly clean build! Looks box-stock.....and I mean that in a VERY flattering way!
afx Posted July 28, 2014 Author Posted July 28, 2014 Such an amazingly clean build! Looks box-stock.....and I mean that in a VERY flattering way! Thanks Ken and I do take that as a complement. I work hard engineering my kit bash and scratch built parts to make sure they fit correctly. I want them to look like they belong there and aren't just tacked on.
unclescott58 Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Very well done. Any engine pics? Once this kit is built, it's all but impossible, like the real car, to see much, if anything, of the engine from above. And flip the car over, and there's still not much to see of the engine. Basically an oil and exhaust. That's about it. Scott
Scalper Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Nice Job... Perfect. very clean. best one I have seen, and I do love my Porsches
Dominik Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 You did miracles with this kit, I love it my friend!!!!! J.C. This model is breathtaking!!! I remember when these cars were new, and your build makes me want one. The workmanship is great!!!! They nail my thoughts - you've done a really, really good job on this kit!
afx Posted July 29, 2014 Author Posted July 29, 2014 (edited) Thank you very much for the comments. I thought the silver painted grease cap and lug nuts where a bit too much so have blackened them out. I will post an updated picture soon. Edit: here are the pictures for comparison.
