Thank you all for your kind comments. I wasn't too happy with the way it turned out; I wasn't even sure I wanted to post any photos. I'm now glad that I did.

Thanks again,

David G.

ill take your pa winter and raise it a northern ohio winter. lol nice build.

Thanks!

I grew up in the Youngstown area, specifically Hubbard, so I know all about the NE OH winters. Why do you think I live in Phoenix? ;)

I also didn't have any OH plate decals from the early 70s.

I can't remember seeing this one before, but it looks great! I like the daily driver look with that paint job and everything. Those winter tires are looking really cool too, do you know what kit did they originally come from? I have a '77 Monaco that will be a daily driver in late '70s Finland and it would definitely need snow tires on it.

Hello Niko. Thanks, I'm glad you like it.

I bought the tires at the Desert Scale Classic a couple of years ago, they were packaged as a set of four tires. I think they were originally meant to be off-road truck tires, but I'm not certain.

Here's a close up of the remaining two tires that may help you identify them to track down a set.

Thanks again,

Hello everyone

The recent MPC WWII Jeep reissue has five of them:

And two can also be found in the recent reissue of MPC's 1978 Pacer (optional rear tires for the rally version):

As a kid, I built an MPC 1976 or 1977 Pacer, and it also had them.

Finally, IIRC, the MPC Cooter's Tow Truck had 4 of 'em on the back in a duallie setup.

Hope this helps, thanks.

Don't forget the studs in the snowtires

I thought about that but I couldn't come up with a good way to make it work. I doubt anybody would see them any way.

...dang it!     I should have just said "Yeah, I did that, you just can't see them in the picture." :D

Thanks for your comment Bob

One nit-pick, David. We don't have front license plates in PA.

Sam

It took you a while to catch that one Sam.

Being a stickler for details, I really do appreciate when people take the time to share an observation. Thank you.

I think some of the government or other official vehicles had them though. This one could pass for such.

In any event, I like the plate there and I do believe that I recall seeing one on rare occasion back in the day. So it stays.

Thanks,

David G

Hello Everybody!

As some of you may know, I've been going back over my old threads and updating old photos and replacing broken photo links. To say that there is a lot of work involved in such a project is a bit of an understatement.

I've gone in and reedited the old photos to hopefully make them a bit more eye friendly and uploaded them again. This should be the last time I have to rescue this topic from the PhotoBucket Monster.

Thank you for your patience and I hope you enjoy.

Regards,

David G.

Nice work. It's a great kit the '70 Galaxie. I like thread resurrections. I take a journey through the archives sometimes but still only see a fraction of what's posted here!

Thank you Gareth. It's good to know when one's efforts are appreciated.
