John Goschke Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Really excited about the Pontiacs! Sure hope Moebius does a better job getting the subtleties correct of the '61 body design (especially that roofline) than AMT did with the '62.
ChrisBcritter Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 (edited) Very very good news. I bet everybody who has a reissue '64 Comet is tossing out their chassis and laying in a supply of new blades to cut open their hoods. I'll probably pick up a Ventura to upgrade my '61 Bonneville, and the Belvedere would be a start on the Chicago police car from the chase scene in Cooley High. (Note to AMT: maybe this would be a good time to make a '62 Grand Prix based on the Catalina tooling?) Edited April 29, 2014 by ChrisBcritter
High octane Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Chris, AMT is NO longer and Round 2 has all the rights to the AMT name and all tooling that is left. As far as a new tool for a '62 Grand Prix goes, I can't see it comin' as were talkin' a lot of dollar$ here. Round 2 is makin' good money using the tooling they already have and re-issuing kits we haven't seen for awhile like the MPC Malco Mustang Gasser.

Maindrian Pace Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 I can happily picture the number of A/FX, B/FX, and AWB '65 Comets on contest tables. Epic. -MJS
Brett Barrow Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 I'm sure part of the strategy for the Pontiac and Plymouth are the potential drag racing and stock car variations for subsequent releases, as with the Hudsons and Chryslers they've done...I'd love to see a '61 CDV also, but I'm happy w/ the Modelhaus one. That seems to be Moebius' MO, to get two or more variants out of a tooling with a minimum of additional parts (open wheels, roll cage, rear seat filler, decals, etc). Pretty much every car they've done or have announced has a NASCAR or drag racing connection. And Revel has been following the same strategy as well, that's just the nature of the business in 2014.
progplastic Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Brett..Not that there's anything wrong with that.....
Brett Barrow Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Brett..Not that there's anything wrong with that..... No, there's noting wrong with that at all. We've been getting some great kits over the last few years, stuff I never thought I'd see in plastic (57 Chevy and Ford 2-door post sedans, 50 Olds, et al) stuff that has a broader appeal than just rep-stock. Not that there's anything wrong with rep-stock...
lordairgtar Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 (edited) 1957-58 Studebaker Golden Hawk And with extra bits to create the Packard Hawk. Any chance of a Hudson pick up truck? Edited May 1, 2014 by lordairgtar
Dave Metzner Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Hudson Pick-up would be neat - unfortunately that's a one-off vehicle One offs are not very good for return on investment. Studebaker Hawks also interesting orphans... Not sure that they'd be near the top of our list.. we do have a list - several projects to follow the Plymouth, I think that there are several interesting new kits to come in the next year or two..
mnwildpunk Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Now Dave that is just mean you can't tease us with a statement like that then not share what is on the list lol
Dave Metzner Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 (edited) Let me finish some of the projecte we have in the works right now before I tell you about something new, you'll just have to be patient for a few months. Sorry, to be honest untill I finish a couple projects I simply don't have time to start another new one - and there's no point talking about something new before we have a good start on it. Right now I have a pile of Pick-up truck parts to sort out ,and I need to get a couple test shots whacked together to be sure that everything's been fixed from the first test shots. So that I can keep that project moving forward..AND a 65 Comet tooling model to review as well. Going to be really busy for the next several days, because I'm also expecting a box full of 54 Hudson test shots to show up on my doorstep any day now.. Edited May 6, 2014 by Dave Metzner
Sport Suburban Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 If you need any help, I will gladly assemble one of those test shots for you!

Dominik Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 So many gotta-haves, so little $$. You nail it! Special thanks to Moebius and Dave. Great Job buddies, great job.
mangodart Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 (edited) I'm really excited by all these new anouncements !!! Moebius you're the one to look after !!!!! Edited May 10, 2014 by mangodart
Deathgoblin Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 I must say, after having such a good experience on the '53 Hudson I'll be investing in the others without hesitation. Excellent stuff, Dave.
horsepower Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Dave, it'd sure be cool if maybe some of those "projects" included some early Chevelle Malibu's that were mainstream cars & not SS's, & if really lucky, maybe some of those early subcompacts that Ford & GM offered ( have you seen the prices a Pinto, or Vega kit in a "stock"style is fetching these days?
High octane Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 You guys gotta remember whether it's Moebius, Revell, Round 2, etc. that no matter what kits you guys would like to see them make: They're not gonna please everyone, it just ain't gonna happen.
johnbuzzed Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 There are several full-size, mid-late '60's Fords and Chevys available. I there a possibility of a full-size Mopar of that vintage?

What happens to the test shots after you are done with them? It would be neat to have a display at where ever moebius main offices are with every auto kit test shot. Or sell them on ebay.
