Snake45 Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 The Eagles doing Tom Waits... I think it was my first year of college, one of the local "head" FM stations was playing both versions. This confused me for a while until I figured out yes, there really were two different versions of the song.
Harry P. Posted April 4, 2015 Author Posted April 4, 2015 I like the original, but I prefer the Eagles' version. I've always loved the way the Eagles sing their harmonies.
Craig Irwin Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 "Riding with Daffy Duck, Playing with Tonka Trucks....."
Harry P. Posted April 8, 2015 Author Posted April 8, 2015 A couple of unknown kids covering The Band Perry... and just about as good as the original!
chunkypeanutbutter Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 (edited) The Who version of Under My Thumb! Just discovered it today, and I like it better than the Rolling Stones version. I dunno, I just like the Who, I guess. Edited April 8, 2015 by chunkypeanutbutter
Snake45 Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Two EXTREMELY talented contestants on The Voice rip up a song called "Put the Gun Down" by someone named ZZ Ward. I'd never heard this song until yesterday and now it is my New Favorite Song of the Week. These girls are AT LEAST as good as the original, which is also pretty darn good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ts0hVypeUK0
Harry P. Posted April 9, 2015 Author Posted April 9, 2015 Who would have thunk it? Taylor Swift doing a pretty solid cover of Tom Petty's "American Girl"...

W-409 Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 A Couple of Teddy And The Tigers' covers. This is a Finnish band that was active in 1977-1980. After that they've had a few gigs, but not many. Here they're covering Johnny Burnette's Tear It Up: Carl Perkins' Honey Don't:
Harry P. Posted April 11, 2015 Author Posted April 11, 2015 A great note for note cover of Badfinger's "Baby Blue"...
Snake45 Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 A great note for note cover of Badfinger's "Baby Blue"... They could use a better singer, but that's not bad at all--very listenable. I think the harmonies starting in the second verse stand out a little better than the original. I liked this--thanks for posting it.
Danny Lectro Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 Here is a pretty acoustic cover of "Say It Ain't So" by Weezer. I like how she sings the original song's guitar solo melody while still handling the rhythm part on the guitar. Here is the original song, for reference:
Harry P. Posted April 17, 2015 Author Posted April 17, 2015 The all-time Queen of the Cover... Linda Ronstadt. She covered everybody! Like Buddy Holly...
Snake45 Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 And not Buddy Holly, but the Hollies... Mad Love is a great album. She covered three Cretones songs, and got The Cretones themselves to back her up on it.
Harry P. Posted April 17, 2015 Author Posted April 17, 2015 Martina McBride and Little Big Town doing a fantastic version of the Everly Brothers' 1960 classic...
W-409 Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 More Teddy And The Tigers stuff because it's excellent. This is their cover of Buddy Holly's Rock Around With Ollie Vee: Here's the original for comparison:
Harry P. Posted April 20, 2015 Author Posted April 20, 2015 Another cool cover of "American Girl." The sound quality isn't the greatest, but this is a very accurate cover, almost note for note, right down to the backing vocals and harmonies.

DaveM Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 I think Teen Spirit has probably replaced Louie Louie as the most covered song. This version is pretty neat.
Harry P. Posted April 21, 2015 Author Posted April 21, 2015 I think Teen Spirit has probably replaced Louie Louie as the most covered song. This version is pretty neat. Is that supposed to be a serious cover or a comedy act?
DaveM Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Is that supposed to be a serious cover or a comedy act? Probably a bit of both. They are amazingly talented, but they like to have a bit of fun with their shows. They do a lot of rock and roll covers but can be a bit tongue in cheek. (It is hard to be a bad boy when you are playing heavy metal on a Ukulele.) Here is their unique take on "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" which is a comedy act, but is worth watching. Think about how much work this one took to coordinate!
