1972coronet Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Sex Pistols take The Stooges I Wanna Be Your Dog (1969) to another level : Bauhaus do dark justice to David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust : Nine Inch Nails' sublime take on Joy Division's Dead Souls : http://youtu.be/R_JwU9j9f2s
Modelbuilder Mark Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Devo's cover of the Rolling Stones' I can get no Satisfaction. Love the video too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jadvt7CbH1o My all time favorite band. I also have a favorite artist, but Devo is my fav band.
Harry P. Posted May 8, 2014 Author Posted May 8, 2014 Everything by Dread Zepplin "Nobody's Fault But Mine" was yet another song that Zeppelin stole without giving any credit. It's amazing how many songs we all think of as Zeppelin originals are either direct ripoffs or slightly reworked versions of somebody else's work (and I say that as a huge Zeppelin fan)! I hate to admit it, but they stole from everyone! The original "Nobody's Fault But Mine"...
Harry P. Posted May 8, 2014 Author Posted May 8, 2014 "Solitary Man" is my favorite Neil Diamond song, and this version by Chris Isaak and Stevie Nicks is a great cover... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mrkai_o0uiU
Craig Irwin Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Nine inch Nails covered, don't worry, they cleaned it up.
Craig Irwin Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 (edited) Hey how about another Led Zep cover??? The Zepplin version was a cover. It's an OLD blues standard, I don't know when it was first recorded, but heres one from 1964. Even the Association recorded it before Zepplin. I will not subject you to the Association's version. Russell C Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 '20s ragtime cover of a commercial ditty, from da man who made cover songs for really old jazz famous:
Harry P. Posted May 9, 2014 Author Posted May 9, 2014 How about this one then.... Well... I never thought I'd put a Neil Diamond song into the heavy metal category.... But pretty cool! They were faithful to the original while still putting their own spin on it.
Harry P. Posted May 10, 2014 Author Posted May 10, 2014 A great cover of a Beatles song by Eddie Vedder: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJwLAxlio9w
Tom Geiger Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 Sadly, the only thing I can play is the radio. I would love to be able to play guitar, but I just don't have the time it would take to really get into it and get really good. One of my regrets in life is not having taken lessons and learning to play as a kid. Same here. I have music in my soul but cannot play or sing a lick. Music just isn't in my genes! When I was 12 I begged for a guitar for Christmas. My father responded with a German made Framus folk guitar (we did live in Germany at the time). He hired a woman we knew to give me lessions. The first thing she did was ask me to hold out my hands. She looked in disgust and said, "short stubby fingers, you'll never play the guitar!" And I was defeated. My father should've smacked her!
Tom Geiger Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 (edited) http://youtu.be/GEoF7jfSxpY I give up. I cannot get the Youtube video to work on this board... tried it many ways, can get it to work on other boards... Tried to post Karla Devito, Midnight Confession... Edited May 10, 2014 by Tom Geiger
Ridge Rider Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 (edited) I've always liked this Pink Floyd cover. Queensryche is from my youth and I have seen them several times in concert, but it might be the saxophone that makes it a not better but enjoyable cover. Youtube sound quality per copyright infringement sucks but you get the idea. Edited May 10, 2014 by Ridge Rider
martinfan5 Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 (edited) How about a cover for Cotton Eyed Joe, I would much rather look at her then then Rednex, no need to turn the sound on, just for the eye candy  Edited May 10, 2014 by martinfan5
Chuck Most Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 I can't post any of my favorite cover songs, because I can't even mention the name of the band on this forum...
afx Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 (edited) Shelby Lynne's cover of Dusty Springfeild's-Just a Little Lovin'. Outstanding recording and very sultry. Not sure which version is my favorite. Edited May 10, 2014 by afx
Mike_G Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 (edited) I recorded this on my birthday when I'd been drinking a little whiskey so please forgive the sloppiness: http://thesurfonics.com/Ghostriders.mp3 Edited May 10, 2014 by Mike_G
Harry P. Posted May 11, 2014 Author Posted May 11, 2014 http://youtu.be/GEoF7jfSxpY I give up. Harry P. Posted May 11, 2014 Author Posted May 11, 2014 I'm sure there are a lot of cover bands that do Pink Floyd, but two of the best I've ever seen are Brit Floyd and Aussie Pink Floyd. They are both equally good and recreate Pink Floyd's songs almost perfectly.
Craig Irwin Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 First the Shirelles, then the Beatles, thin Smith. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6atUODsWGs
