Snake45 Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 I just found this, the 'Coop covering Lady Gaga Just discovered this thread due to today's bump. This vid is the coolest thing I've seen all week! Dunno if anyone's posted this but here's my contribution: Meat Loaf covering the great Warren Zevon's Lawyers Guns & Money. The redheaded (or strawberry blonde, hard to tell from the lighting) backup singer is Meat's daughter, Pearl. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ga_k44Lqs60
Harry P. Posted November 17, 2014 Author Posted November 17, 2014 Here's a very nice version of Bryan Ferry/Roxy Music's "More Than This" by 10,000 Maniacs with Mary something (forgot her last name), who replaced Natalie Merchant: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdRCHKPb5-4
Hawk312 Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 That Alice Cooper one was unpredictable.....didn`t see him doing that one. Here is an obscure one. Sort of a cover, but sort of not since Jonny Cash sings in it as well. I like the duet at the end. Also, these guys do "Meet Me Halfway" way better than The Black Eyed Peas ever could. Check out all the "Whazup"s:
Harry P. Posted November 19, 2014 Author Posted November 19, 2014 Ok, I didn't see that coming (Alice Cooper doing Lady Gaga)... However... that song is perfect for AC. Great cover. Go Alice, go! Nice to see him still rocking strong after all these years. And from what I've read about him, there's not a nicer guy in all of show biz. PS: I love his t-shirt!

Not only that, but AC was obviously an important influence on Gaga's career, especially in her early years...right up there with Madonna, Bowie, and Elton John (and Elvis, Little Richard, Cher, etc etc).
von Zipper Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 I was very sorry to hear that Motown great, Jimmy Ruffin passed away November 17, 2014............. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gA0GcXV2njY
Danny Lectro Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Here are a couple of Bob Dylan covers I haven't seen posted yet: Maggie's Farm covered by Rage Against The Machine Lay Lady Lay covered by Ministry (I love a good fuzz-bass tone.)
Danny Lectro Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 I really like this group Postmodern Jukebox led by Scott Bradlee. They do modern songs but done to rhythm & tempo from a bygone era. I like some of the stuff Postmodern Jukebox does. Their cover of Lorde's "Royals" introduced me to Puddles' Pity Party: This is Puddles' cover of Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On" With a bit of Metallica thrown in:
blunc Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Ugly Kid Joe cover of a Harry Chapin song "Cat's in the Cradle"
blunc Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 House of the Rising Sun.... the really lonnggg version.
Harry P. Posted November 24, 2014 Author Posted November 24, 2014 Nice cover of "Cats in the Cradle." That Susan Tedeschi cover was also really nice.
Harry P. Posted November 24, 2014 Author Posted November 24, 2014 Dave Mason does a killer version of Bob Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower"... but for me this is the ultimate cover of that song... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMx1w25ohPU
chunkypeanutbutter Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 George Harrison's "If Not For You" is better than Bobby Dylan's, imo... The Who's "Bucket T," "Barbara Ann," and "Batman" are worth a listen as well.
blunc Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Smash Mouth cover of a Monkees song "I'm a Believer"
blunc Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 "I Hate Kate" covers Peter Schilling "Major Tom"
Harry P. Posted November 24, 2014 Author Posted November 24, 2014 George Harrison's "If Not For You" is better than Bobby Dylan's, imo... Agreed!
Harry P. Posted November 24, 2014 Author Posted November 24, 2014 Smashmouth's version of "I'm a Believer" is pretty cool... but the Monkees did it better. Actually the original isn't too shabby...
blunc Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 a very different cover of a Phil Collins song.
chunkypeanutbutter Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 (edited) I've heard that one ^ Actually I like it... Edited November 24, 2014 by chunkypeanutbutter
blunc Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 I've heard that one ^ Actually I like it... Masters of Chant have several interesting covers, IMHO worth checking out if you're feeling mellow.
blunc Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 (edited) most listeners claim Warren Zevon did the best Werewolves of London, I think Adam Sandler did a decent cover. Edited November 24, 2014 by blunc
