This is a curbside 1956 Buick Century AMT promo that I picked up on EBAY several months ago. It has a metal chassis and chrome plated metal grille and bumpers. It's a pretty rudimentary promo which was molded in Cycolac plastic.

I first sanded all the mold lines and lightly sanded the entire body to help the Duplicolor primer/sealer get a good bite to cover the red plastic body. The colors are Tamiya Mica Red and Model Master Wimbledon White. I had to mask off the windshield completely as it seemed to be "fused" to the windshield frame.

The grille was given a blackwash with The Detailer and I used small, clear MV lenses for the front turn signals. The whitewall tires are from my parts stash and the wheels were also given a blackwash. A mirror was added to the door and an antenna installed.

The interior was painted the same colors as the body and the carpet was flocked Black. The das was detailed with BMF and some small gauge and radio face pieces in my stash. I added shirt pin pcs. to the steering column for the shift and turn signal levers. I added an interior mirror and visors from my parts box.

The taillights were detailed with BMF on the bottom half and white acrylic was applied for the backup lenses. The license plate is from my parts stash.

While this car is not perfect (none of my models are) it fills in an empty spot in my "Class of '56" buildups. Thanks for looking in on this. Any and all comments are welcomed as usual.

That's awesome Rich! Came out very nice. I've been looking for the 4 door '56 Buick promo to detail up too. Hard to find these without warp. Yours doesn't look to bad in that department. Is there any way you could get the rear wheel to sit under the wheel well more, or is that due to the warpage? Great colors, and as usual, stunning work. :)

Wow! Very nice Rich. Buick is my favorite brand, so I always love to see these. And like yours, it's nice to see them done right.

Now if we can just teach you how get your tongue back in your mouth?

I doubt we'll ever see one of these look nicer than this. And I can well imagine that the warpage is not so noticeable when it's sitting with your other 56 cars.

Very nice Rich!! I'm actually quite surprised that you could make one of these old promos look that nice! If you can find one that's not warped beyond recognition to start with. I avoid these promos like the plague! Too many "unknowns" for me. You should be proud! You did it right! :) Steve

Well, thank you all very, very much for all of your very kind comments.

Alan, Steven and Peter, this car had no warping at all..!! The passenger side vent window frame was missing which I repaired with pieces of plastic. It also had no vent window glass. I used small pieces of clear acetate for those

I couldn't tuck the wheels in under the body any more due to the width of the metal chassis.

When I'm getting promo's on EBAY I don't even try getting one if it has even the slightest warping. I've been very lucky so far in finding and getting unwarped cars for very good prices.

James, it would look a lot more "gorgeous" if I could have gotten those metal front and rear bumpers to sit straighter.

Robert, I guess it might be nearing time for a new Avatar picture.

Bob and Peter, yes, this Buick fills a "hole" in my group of 1956 cars very nicely. I've still got about 6 more cars to get and/or do to complete the "Class of '56".

This is really beautiful Rich! I love what you have been doing with some of these conversions of pretty obscure vehicles. This one turned out fantastic!

I'm sure you can figure out a way.

You're probably right Harry. The more I look at the crooked bumpers, the more they bug me. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Be careful. It's trying to fix things like that that we end phuking things up for good, if you know what I mean... The car looks great like it is.
