Ramfins59 Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 OK, I've had just about enough of spring rains already..!! Every day for a week or so gets real old, real fast. The grass and weeds make the yard look like a jungle (my lawn service is due to show up any day now). I can't paint, even in my basement, because the lacquers blush..!! 70 to 90% humidity just makes everything feel "sticky". I feel for all of you guys in Florida and other areas who experience this all the time.
fitforbattle Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Uhhh. I hate the R-word more than the S-word. Snow is usually expected, but rain... that sh*t just shows up ruin your mood.
Kit Basher Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 I would have loved it if I had gotten my garden in before this mess. As it is, I'll be lucky if it dries out enough to plant by June.
Crazy Ed Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Yea Ray, I feel your "pain". Wind Speed 2mph, Temp 80F, Humidity 7% with a Dewpoint of 10F. Now where's my Chapstick...........
Guest Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Harry, wanna bet?! I had to. We have a dry well that does not work. One day the landing flooded into the basement. I was shoveling rain!
Harry P. Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Harry, wanna bet?! I had to. We have a dry well that does not work. One day the landing flooded into the basement. I was shoveling rain! Ok, that's a special case. My house is the highest one on the block... all water runs away from my house in all four directions. I have two sump pumps in the basement; I don't think either of them has ever even gone off in the 25 years I've lived in this house, no matter how hard it has rained, or for how long. The advantage of having a lot at the high point of the whole subdivision!
crazyjim Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Florida isn't that bad. We had 1/2" of rain yesterday and today 1 of my gardenia plants started to bloom. Very pretty. When it gets too humid, we just jump in the pool.
tbill Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 I don't mind the rain, as long as the sump pumps keep going...... downside is, rain, some heat and sun and my lawn seems to grow a foot a day! in good situations this time of year I have to mow every 3 days, and I am in a 'weird' spot ground water wise [part of the old erie canal is across the road from my house, Oneida lake 3 miles down the road], so if we get too much rain, my yard is 'land -o- lakes' with foot tall grass, gets out of control fast. so here is hoping for some somewhat dry weather after the massive rain we are supposed to get tomorrow.............
cobraman Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Hey Ray............ Bite me...!!! Touchy, touchy ! : )
Craig Irwin Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Lows will be in the 30's the next few days, a little cooler and the R word could become the S word.
o-man Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 We are working on 3+ inches of rain for today. Possible tornado hit about a mile up the road. Great day to be off from work...NOT
charlie8575 Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Lows will be in the 30's the next few days, a little cooler and the R word could become the S word. You can keep that, Craig. I've had enough cold for the next 6 months! Charlie Larkin
PappyD340 Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Yep, had a little over 2 inches in the rain gauge yesterday, just need 2 weeks of sunshine now!
Craig Irwin Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 It's been raining since Monday, frost warning for tomorrow morning.
crazyjim Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Had some rain the last couple of days and wake up this morning to 52°. Chilly for me.
Joe Handley Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 We're getting ready to kick off our HTU's R/C racing season with the stores jewnowners at the helm tomorrow with a practice day and it looks like it will be a typical May/June race........there will be good chance of rain right in the middle of the day..............
High octane Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 I noticed that Hobbytown USA store in Lake in the Hills has a nice track, actually I was in the neighborhood and stopped with my better half and enjoyed browsing the entire store.
uncle potts Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 We've had a little rain here, a .010" here, .030" there, however my biggest complaint is the cold. We had a freeze warning here, it was 28 degrees this morning. We've had little snow this year, and not much rain, but I am sick of the cold.

IIRC, their's is indoors and off road, we set ours up in the parking lot on pavement...........that sometimes can almost be considered "off road".
High octane Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 A lot of people buy so called "off road" vehicles and the only time they're really off road is when the vehicle is in their driveway. What a waste of money. But the car dealers like it, and the manufacturers love it!
