Metalmad Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 (edited) Started this 67 Shelby a few days ago and will be doing some mild custom work on her. I did not like the tires that came with the kit so I have found a set that I like for this build. Will also be installing a Super Charged Coyote engine & will have to do some slight modification to the back half to accommodate the tires & updated rear differential and suspension. DynoMight Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 nice stance, can't wait to see where this project is going
DavidG Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 (edited) SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!!! That kit is definitely on my TO-DO list! Edited June 5, 2014 by DavidG
Metalmad Posted June 5, 2014 Author Posted June 5, 2014 It's the reissue of the AMT. The only issue I have found so far is the fitment of the front clip which will need some work to get it to fit correct.I also would like to be able to get the Eleanor rims for this build so if anyone knows where I can score some please let me know otherwise I will stick with the Torq Thrusters.
DynoMight Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 It depends on what type of car you're going for.. Torq-Thrusts for drag or Eleanor rims for Eleanor.. It'll look good either way -Glenn
FullTimeHobbiest Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Nice stance! Cant wait to see this project get going.
superbike-shaun Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Seth, lovin the new build so far, give us more! WE want more! Shaun.s
om617 Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Nice start. Should attempt at build an Mustang some day.
Metalmad Posted June 6, 2014 Author Posted June 6, 2014 Started modifying the rear back half yesterday evening to accommodate the rear tires & have a mock up of the motor with the super charger painted with alclad chrome & the engine painted aluminum & the transmission painted magnesium then cleared.
DynoMight Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 Good job! Keep it up! As for the wheels, I would keep the Torqs on it. My opinion, you can do what you want.
66belair Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 Great work so far. That's a great engine to put in that old stang.
Reeves Racing Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 (edited) Nice start. I couldn't find any Eleanor wheels so I used the Halibrands from the Revell Cobra kit on mine. Edited June 7, 2014 by Reeves Racing
Metalmad Posted June 8, 2014 Author Posted June 8, 2014 Mitch thank you for the info on the rims I may look for the kit tomorrow. Some slow progress today but its only body filler on some of the parts that I will be using for the rear suspension.
Metalmad Posted June 9, 2014 Author Posted June 9, 2014 Some progress today on the Shelby which was removing both front grills & fitting the replacement grill, attaching the front clip to the body & smoothing the front clip to the body & getting the 4 link ready for the rear suspension & the valve covers in primer which I think I will decal wrap in carbon fiber or maybe paint them the same color as the body which I'm not sure of the color yet but have a good idea what it maybe and also have the seats in primer also.
Metalmad Posted June 11, 2014 Author Posted June 11, 2014 Decided on the interior color which will be a light tan with the carpet being a little more darker tan then then the light tan. The body color I'm not sure yet but have two colors in mind.
Metalmad Posted June 12, 2014 Author Posted June 12, 2014 (edited) Here are a few mock up pictures. I have been working on smoothing out the rear half of the undercarriage where I have cut out part of the frame and I have shorten the width of the gas tank also so I will have room to add new frame rails for the four link. My next step will be adding the new frame rails & to close in the rear wheel wells and to figure out what height I want the rear suspension to be at. Edited June 12, 2014 by Metalmad
Metalmad Posted June 13, 2014 Author Posted June 13, 2014 Carl the engine came out of the Revell Street Burner 2010 Shelby GT 500 kit.
