Danno Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 (edited) That's a sharp cruiser, is it a Taurus ???? Nope. It's a "Police Interceptor." New car, newish name. The Taurus is dead and gone ... as a police car. Edited July 3, 2014 by Danno
martinfan5 Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 (edited) That's a sharp cruiser, is it a Taurus ???? Well, yes and no, "This generation of the Taurus forms the basis for the Ford Police Interceptor Sedan", they are built on Fords D3 platform , and its the same thing as the Crown Vic, the P71 versions were called ," Police Interceptors" not Crown Vic's , its the same thing with the new Taurus and PI's, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Taurus_%28sixth_generation%29 Nope. It's a "Police Interceptor." New car, newish name. The Taurus is dead and gone. 2015 Ford Taurus http://www.ford.com/cars/taurus/?gnav=header-cars Edited July 2, 2014 by martinfan5
Joe Handley Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 Yikes! Ain't inflation grand! That's not too bad, to put no modification LED 5×7 inch LED headlights are at least $250 a light, and those are just the lights, no additional brakets, handles, hole saws, ect are needed!
slusher Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 Well, yes and no, "This generation of the Taurus forms the basis for the Ford Police Interceptor Sedan", they are built on Fords D3 platform , and its the same thing as the Crown Vic, the P71 versions were called ," Police Interceptors" not Crown Vic's , its the same thing with the new Taurus and PI's, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Taurus_%28sixth_generation%29 2015 Ford Taurus http://www.ford.com/cars/taurus/?gnav=header-cars Thanks Jonathan, my nephew has a 12 0r 13 Taurus.
Custom Hearse Posted July 5, 2014 Author Posted July 5, 2014 Ford started calling the police package "Police Interceptor" instead of Crown Victoria in 2000.
moparfarmer Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 Do people know that with the smaller cars they are not big enough for two patrolmen/women in the front with all their equipement on..Smaller than the CV...Most are built for one man squads....
Agent G Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 My last car was a then brand new '06 Chevrolet Impala. With all the equipment mounted, radio, siren/light controller, rifle rack and laptop computer I could not get to the climate controls. I always had a wrench in my bag I used to loosen the lap top mount and move it away from me. As a sergeant I always rode alone so that was never questioned. Then again, with my seniority, attitude and demeanor no one dared....................... I had to ride two up with another sergeant a few times just before retiring and oh my goodness there was little room on the passenger side. Glad this old widebody cop retired when he did. G
charlie8575 Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 The column shift proves they could make a six-passenger Taurus and get rid of that gigantic, space-robbing centre console. Ford- are you listening? Charlie Larkin
Agent G Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Charlie I'm waiting for them to use the '15 Mustang platform for a new Lincoln. I drove the Lincoln version of the Taurus, the MKS, and found it to be very cramped. The stupid console is so high and wide, it takes up all the space where my right knee usually rests. It's a shame really. G
